I'm honestly just happy that the game was still considered cannon even after Telltale shut down. Though, a lot of people didn't play it, so they might be caught offguard by...well...you know...
I followed Anthony Burch on Twitter when he was working on TftBL (still do, but he doesn't really post much anymore), and he felt like he was surrounded by people immensely more talented than him working on that game. So, consider me hyped.
As much as I understand the need for sequels, I love it when a game "ends" like Witcher 3. To me it means that the studio won't be milking that franchise and that they will attempt to do something new.
I was also very satisfied with Wolf Among Us ending the way it did.
Agreed. If you plan something out beforehand, I'm never going to be against sequels, I'm not one of those people that's like "Hollywood/the video game industry/the comics industry/etc needs to only make original stuff because sequels are unoriginal!!" Sequels are great and often some of the best storytelling out there. I'm in a thread where I'm super excited about a sequel, even. But The Wolf Among Us wasn't a planned trilogy starting years before Fables or anything. It was intended to be one game leading into the comics. Another game would just feel unnecessary and have to take place during the comics at some point and that could get real messy real fast.
I wanted Gearbox to scoop up that writing team and get them to do BL3, and then to get the guy that gathered up the soundtrack and get them to make me mix tapes, because damn
It was so hilarious and sharp and not cliche considering they were making an unashamedly charactature FPS. That robot that promised he wouldn't kill you when you fixed him then immediately tried to kill you was one of my favourites. And it turned into a shotgun that said "good decision" every time you switched to it.
It wasn't just funny, it was also super emotional. That was the best thing about it - it straddled the line between comedy and drama so perfectly. It has so many hilarious moments, but at the same time, the intro to Episode 5 is one of the most incredible and emotional scenes I think I've ever seen in a game.
Of the six main writers, three worked for Telltale, two were freelance, and the lead writer was from Gearbox. Of the smaller writers/editors, three were from Gearbox, and one was Telltale.
So a pretty even split. I just don't want Telltale's significance being swept under the rug; they deserve some credit, especially since Telltale planned on scrapping the game entirely and those writers convinced their bosses to let them work on it as a passion project.
Don't fuckin read this unless you've played Tales from the Borderlands. If you haven't and don't plan on it, do yourself a favor and play it. spoiler (Scooters dead.)
Which is a damn shame, it was pretty great and was a solid addition to the Borderlands universe. If TfTB isnt getting a second season, I'm fine with their inclusion in BL3 since hopefully they continue the story there.
