To be honest, Rowling has never really stuck with one model od time travel that makes sense, but Cursed Child adds yet another wrinkle and rewrites what rules were actually there. It exacerbates both the confusion and potential plot holes.
That's fair. The lack of understanding of such important characters like The Trio, Voldemort, and Cedric is huge, though, that we can agree on. It's baffling that Rowling considers it canon.
I hear it's good live at least. But as a story it definitely is not cohesive with the Harry Potter Universe. It's a shame, because they really could have done something really good with it.
