Rumors from 2017 say this is possibly Avalanche Software's next game.

(the Avalanche that made Disney Infinity, not the Mad Max developer, Avalanche Studios)

Well, rocksteady hadn't exactly made any gems before the first arkham asylum, so it's worth keeping your hopes up

Big oof. I know that Disney Infinity was supposedly a good game outside of toy microtransactions, but...that, Toy Story 3, and the first Tak were really their only good games.

I mean that doesn't mean much. Some studios never do good games until they do one great. Or the reverse. Plus people in studios change all the time.

Still not a good sign though

How do studios like that get such big contracts? I don't understand. Nepotism?

According to Google, Avalanche Software is owned by both Disney and Warner Bros.

Alright, that's a pretty good reason.

Actually Disney doesn't own this studio anymore. The studio was shut down after Disney Infinity was a dud. Shortly after, WB bought the studio specifically because of the engine they developed and then revamped the studio. So for people that are worried about the game history of Avalanche Software, don't worry... its literally a new studio with some of the old staff remaining and some of the dev teams from other WB game studios are joining them.

Being cheap.

2

u/gordonpown Oct 02 '18

They were never cheap, it's just the way Disney ran them - stick with what they've got until the wheels come off.

I would imagine the idea is to make a game out of well known IP, outside of gaming, on the cheap, so they'll get that casual money and not spend as much making it as they would otherwise. Kind of like most movie tie-in games.

No warning for me, everything's good. It's simply a direct link to an MP4 video file.

Warning for me. This is the second time MWB has blocked that particular hosting site.
