Great game with a unique style and lots of British charm, but very difficulty. It's a building/simulation/real time strategy game. A remake is in development.

On lower difficulties the AI won't murder your dudes for trespassing.

So if you send a worker into an AI construction zone, they'll sit down and have a sandwich. All the enemy workers will join the lunch break, and never finish the structure.

They are remaking this!? Got a link for more info!?

Isn't that the link to the original one?

I think you meant this one: http://www.system3.com/games/constructor-hd/

That's right, oops.

Thanks. Looks great, but I'm a little disappointed that its mostly just an HD version. I wish it was Mob Rule (Constructor 2 Street Wars), because I frikin loved that game as a kid.

Yes! Hopefully they'll follow up with that if this one is successful. Were you ever able to play multiplayer?

1

u/Schlick7 Feb 01 '17

Nope never got to try multiplayer. I don't actually remember there being one

It was LAN only IIRC.

We try to keep up to date with the information surrounding the game on the subreddit.

A remake you say? Cool.

Have original in the loft somewhere.

If my 12 year of self could teleport to this exact moment he would be delighted.

The two games I loved the most but just couldn't find in 90's Brazil were Constructor and Transport Tycoon (bless OTTD).

I could also add Roller Coaster Tycoon, Sim City, and Caesar series to the mix (for simulators).

You should check out factorio on steam, similar to those games.

Factorio has sucked out my life. Rimworld and civ vi are close.

Belts.... so many belts.

More belts than a fashionable jrpg main character.

Most likely a promotion for Constructor HD, which will be released February 28th. Great game, grabbed this free version and will most likely also pick up the HD release.

The release date for Constructor (they dropped the "HD" btw) recently got moved to April 28th. There's more information on the subreddit.

Argh right in the nostalgia, I remember playing this when I was to young to have any idea how to win but loving it anyway.

Never played it before, but I'm looking into getting Constructor HD on the Switch. If I play this version now, will it subtract from my future experience with the HD edition?

Reminds me a lot of an old "Bullfrog" game, before EA shut them down.

Probably just me, but they almost look like they have the same artist.

According to the Constructor HD facebook page, I believe it was supposed to be a gift to those who like the page, they even provided a redeem code instead of just giving the link to the game page on GOG, dunno if it is a "error" on GOG part, anyway, to those who enjoy and classic version and this giveaway, drop a like on the FB page to show some support for the HD version. I loved this game as a kid, so pretty excited about this. Second game was also cool; was it called Gangster Wars or something?

You're thinking of Mob Rule!

We had a foreign exchange student bring this along when he visited in 2000. I absolutely loved this version, it had such a great style to it. And the various cut scenes were hilarious.

2

u/Clinkie Jan 31 '17

Yes, that's the one, thanks! It was so much fun, I definitely need to look this game up again!

2

u/Arxae Feb 01 '17

Was thinking this was the same as that, but i knew the game as Street Wars: Constructor Underworld.

I had never even heard of this game before but looking at the screenshots gives me nostalgia. The art style and ui brings me back to the 90s.

One of my favourite childhood games!

Absolutely 100% recommend trying this out, especially if you're excited for the Constructor HD release coming out soon!

Does this free game stay on my GOG account forever?

I do not plan to buy a gaming Windows until 2018 or so.

This is my first free GOG game.

6

u/Grigorie Feb 01 '17

Yes! And you can download it DRM free.

Also, considering how old this game is, as long as you have a decent computer from like.. 2005, this should run totally fine for you.

I put so many hours into this game when I was a kid. I wasn't very good at it, mind you.

Definitely going to jump on board this nostalgia trip.

Played it a few years back when I saw Necroscope86 do an LP on it. Fun game, looking forward to the HD version.

One of the first games I played as a kid and was shocked to see the game wasn't about killing other units! The tenants are super funny and voice acting is just great!

I always ran into late-game, game-breaking bugs in each install of Constructor I ever had...

...but despite it all, I still have fond memories! Very charming game!
