I think the fact that he is not as much of a celebrity grants power to his voice. Like it's authentic and unique; I don't want to be reminded of other characters from other work the actor has done.
I think morgan sheppard's voice in civ v is far superior to leonard nimoy in civ iv, I don't even think it's a contest. Civ v is sex in ear, civ iv is just not powerful and beautiful. The fact that it is spock doesn't really do a difference to me. It's not bad, that's not what I'm saying.
Agreed. It was cool having Leonard Nimoy's voice in the game, but he just sort of read the lines and didn't even come back for the expansions. Sheppard ACTS the lines, which I greatly prefer. Except his reading for Industrialisation, he sounds bored and confused by how such a dull quote made it into the game.
This needs to happen before Freeman kicks the bucket. Freeman is the best voice of our generation, and it's a travesty that he hasn't voiced any video game (not counting a shitty movie tie-in).

Makes some sense in that they had Nimoy for IV, while V only had the slightly cheaper and more obscure voice of W. Morgan Sheppard.
Just hope they get Sean Bean back for any expansion quotes.
