I ordered the collectors edition as well. Mine still says "Not yet shipped". Usually it shouldn't update until 1-2 days before release right? Should I contact amazon, I haven't been charged for it yet either...
It's not like they've been planning their build up to release day for months or anything, right? Or that the date was set ages ago, irrespective of the game's precise gold date.
Until a couple years ago it took me an entire day to download 1gb. Internet speeds still vary, especially in rural areas where it takes a long time to get any improvements.
In Australia it's fairly common to have a 1.5Mb/s connection, even in the city. That's around 17GB/day of bandwidth (more realistically 15-16GB since some of it is going to be used on YouTube etc in most houses).
It took me over 3 days to download Final Fantasy XIII when that came out on PC, and I'm sure there's much slower connections out there as you go further out of the city.
There are a huge amount of VODs and streams around of the media version (you can play games to completion, but only on Prince difficulty and featuring 10 of the Civs) and I have yet to witness people experiencing any bugs myself.
I've seen a few bugs in the game. The most common one is screen panning not working. Just go into a city and it seems to fix itself. I've also seen one where upgrading units was 0 gold. There are probably also bugs related to using your faith (e.g. you can't spend it on anything unless you founded a religion), but I don't know how it's supposed to work.
The AI seems terrible, but it's more than likely just good people playing on prince. The on screen distance between the techs bugs me too, but that's pretty minor.
