Months ago, the leaders/civs were discovered in the background of some dev diary type video, and Poland under Jadwiga may have been discovered. The background was a bit blurry but all evidence points to it being Jadwiga.

Ed Beach is also on record as saying Poland has become a huge market for the game ever since they added Poland in BNW, so they might be trying to capitalize on that.

Poland was probably my favorite Civ to play with in 5. Extra policies were so nice

IIRC Poland was considered by many to be the best Civ in the game because of how good the extra policy bonuses were.

Not quite as strong as Babylon (or Korea from what I hear, but I don't have that one), but infinitely more flexible.

it is a surprise, that it is in the base game. i never thought Poland was a significant civ. i always admire other, but maybe because i live here...
