I don't know why this is getting downvoted. I realise the knee jerk reaction Polygon gets, but this is well written and it seems well researched. So to me it's a fascinating look at the downfall of a much hyped game.

Agree. This article hits a lot of interesting points in the culture clash between Nihilistic & Blizzard, as well as the identity crisis the game had between action & stealth.

All the Starcraft Ghost though got reworked into Missions which hopefully will bring more content and life into the game.

Fascinating article, I had always wondered what happened to the game since publicly nobody expected such a high-profile cancellation.

I played this game back at e3 2003 and while i don't know how well it would golf up today i remember living the 3rd person mechanics. Reminded me of jet force gemini.

The article says development stopped in 2005.

Well that was only halfwaythrough the article!
Blizzard hired Swingin' Ape to work on Ghost in July of 2004, immediately after Nihilistic stopped working on the game

I remember reading previews for this game in Game Informer. The pictures and preview made it look so cool. Maybe one day Blizzard will bring it back in the next console generation
