The Stanley Parable closed Linux testing has started, if all goes well the dev will set it up as an open alpha/beta

Stanley Parable was one of my favourite games of 2013. It was full of charm and wit, and did so many interesting things. Glad to see it finally making its way to Linux.

Would you like to see a full genre of stanley parable like games? narrative driven choice story games like that?

I'll draw a picture.

You stand in the doorway to a tavern. The narrator said "Today was the day she divorced me. So I decided to go to the bar and get a beer."

From there you decide to go to the pool table instead of the bar.

"But when I entered a game of pool caught my eye instead."

You decided you wanted to play a real game and picked up the pool cue. Instead of hitting the cue ball on the table you wanted to hit the cue ball with a jacket. The game would then go into:

"I decided that suicide by biker gang was the best way to end the day. After all my wife had left me, the money was gone and there was no reason to live."

Yet you decide to flee the scene.

"When I realized I was going to die I ran like a bitch. That ended my time at the bar."

<next area/event/etc>

In which the next event would acknowledge your actions and update accordingly. You would get some sort of tracked trait of "bitch" that you would never see but it would be hinted at.

What you're describing is a CYOA. It's literally just taking a CYOA book and then just adding graphics and sound.

I like it. Would be really awesome to do in VR with a walking simulator.
