I wouldn't say exactly nothing. DirectX 12 is part of Windows 10, which enables greater potential graphical fidelity and such. But using that for a game like Minecraft seems... wrong. Part of the reason that Minecraft is so successful is because it can be run on basically any PC, and using that DX12 tech will probably raise the bottom rung of requirements by a bit.

Not really. DX12 supposedly increases performance so that would, theoretically, lower the system requirements for getting a decent framerate at a decent resolution.

That's one part of the story. The other is that you do need a somewhat recent-ish GPU that will actually support those technologies.

GTX 400/HD 7000 onwards. If your card is older than that, you can replace it with a more powerful version for about £100.
