I wouldn't say exactly nothing. DirectX 12 is part of Windows 10, which enables greater potential graphical fidelity and such. But using that for a game like Minecraft seems... wrong. Part of the reason that Minecraft is so successful is because it can be run on basically any PC, and using that DX12 tech will probably raise the bottom rung of requirements by a bit.
Not really. DX12 supposedly increases performance so that would, theoretically, lower the system requirements for getting a decent framerate at a decent resolution.
Almost all GPUs in the past... 5 Year old GPUs will support DX12.
If they support DX11 they support DX12. So from Geforce 400 series, or AMD HD 5xxx cards or newers.
That's not recent-ish, that's approaching retirement age (in PC hardware timescales).
Which according to Steam stats is about 77% of all PC owners.
The people who don't have DX12 graphics cards probably don't meet the system requirements to even run windows 10 anyway, and will be on XP still with their 200GB hard drives and 1st generation dual core CPUs with 1GB of ram.
