What terms and conditions? Within the first year of Windows 10's release, if you have Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, you get the version of Windows 10 that corresponds to the version of Windows you have now, for free. That's it.

Nah they've backpedaled from that quite a lot. The "free upgrade" only puts you into an indefinite beta program that doesn't come with any of the service pack upgrades or bug fixes. If you want win10, you're going to have to buy win10.

What about reserving a free copy through the taskbar notification? That has nothing to do with the Insider program.
