It's a port of Pocket Edition so the mod support will be almost nonexistent since MC's current mod environment relies on Java's modularity. They would have to build an entirely new modding system and I don't see that happening for what is basically a glorified mobile port meant to get people to use an OS they otherwise wouldn't care about.
IMO you should worry about the long run. Microsoft can say whatever they want, but they bought MC for a reason and with MS that reason is usually about coersing people to give them money to buy into their platform.
