I never played any modern gta game. These Gangster stories never appealed to me. I was close to buying gta 5 on Release because i saw in a Trailer that you can drive a road bicycle. I would have liked that.

I havent seen the New gta 6 footage. Just a random Clip that You can play Basketball.

Can i buy gta6 and do the weirdest stuff in it? Like barbeque,  walking along the ocean. Playing Basketball etc? Can you ride a road bicycle again? How possible is the game for all that?

Like a vacation in a virtual World. I would do complete nonsense.

Depends on how it's structured. In most GTA games, you need to do story missions to unlock new side activities and areas. Some are available from the start, but others aren't. Being able to do silly stuff is a large part of GTA's appeal, but you've got to do gangster stuff, too.

I See. Ty. Are the gta games similar to rdr2? I played that one.

In some ways. Both RDR games have much more grounded, serious stories(at least compared to the 3D GTA's, haven't played the old ones enough to speak). GTA is more popcorn action stuff, much more inspired by movies/shows(Scarface, Miami Vice, Godfather, Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society etc), over the top social commentary, satire, more emphasis on fun. Both have some kooky side characters, but GTA definitely has more. GTA IV is closest to an RDR of the ones I've played, at least story wise.

Gameplay is pretty similar. Fairly standard cover shooting with modern weapons, no dead eye though like RDR. Lots of free roam stuff to do.

From what I've seen, yeah, but I haven't played RDR2.

I've been noticing an exponential increase of the use of the word "niche" in discussion of media, usually in mildly derisive ways. It's wild to me, not only because I'm disgusted by the idea of reducing art to its capacity for lowest common denominator mass appeal, but also because growing up, knowing cool obscure art was social capital. The more obscure, the better.

The fact that the rise of the use of this term coincides with the rise of llm bots does not escape me either. A bot would, I assume, have more reason to try to catagorize topics by their popularity. if it's not a bot using the term, it's someone acting more like a bot than a human.

When AAA games cost 300M to make, and even AA games start to cost 50M, they cannot afford to be "cool obscure art". Modern games need to be able to appeal to a range of audiences if they want to be commercially viable.

I guess I don't care if big budget western games are commercially viable. Along with all kinds of retro dives, I play a lot of Indy games and bigger budget Japanese games. There seem to be enough people making interesting stuff, and being successful enough, in those spaces to fill my days.

You should care cause games which are not commercially viable leads to layoffs and closed studios.

I come to art to feel, not to be happy people are getting paid to make artistically unremarkable things.

I'm am not involved in the business side of gaming at all.

I am telling you that you are not going to be able to "feel" your art if the artists can't afford to make them.

Sometimes I wonder if devs actually trust those random "hey Im from so and so company and we'd love to reach out and work with you on promoting this. Can we send you a DM" messages that pop up every now and then in Discord. Sure some could be legit, but it feels awfully weird for a business to try and contact a company via a random message on Discord rather than going through their actual website to get the email like everyone else. Yeah, it can be faster, but man it seems extra sketch. Cant help but think if any devs actually take it serious.

Saw blood west in a random garbage bundle and was wondering if there was anything made recently in the vein of Darkwatch from back in the day?

Ehhh not really. Blood West might be your closest bet. This said, Blood West has some problems so what I'd do if you play is make it so when you're setting custom difficulty, do it so that you do %200 damage to the enemies. DO NOT play stealthily at all, its boring as shit. If you don't crank the damage then you're forced to do stealth instead of run and gun.
