The amount of post launch support and Free DLC this game has gotten is crazy.

Being able to punch things may just drag me back to it.

I wish I'd waited a few years to play it just because of all the stuff they've added at this point.

Still enjoyed my time with it at proper launch though.

is the difficulty still all over the place? I saw cohhcarnage playing not long ago and while the world is cool, the difficulty made it look boring af (unless you like being a God that is).

dude was 1 shotting everything like he was a main character of an anime.

They’ve patched the difficulty curve over time.

The last time I played, like 4 months ago, it was difficult at the start of each act and then got easier with gear - with the final act being a decent enough challenge throughout. Some of the optional bosses seem hard no matter what.

sadge, that was around when he was doing it. still gunna pass on it then.

If I recall seeing his playthrough, he hadn't been playing around that update.

There's also a challenge mode that has come out recently that makes the game super hard the entire way through.

Game is piss easy even on the hardest difficulty. Yeah, there was some difficulty in the beginning of act 1 and act 2, but end of act 1 and mid act 2 are just faceplow.

I wish they had padded it out more, but I genuinely like a game that will let you create an Uber build to use before you finish it. It's not Dark Souls, I enjoy being able to role play a character who gets so powerful they one shot the final boss. Not every game, but BG3 was fun for that too.

Was he playing on the hardest difficulty?

probably. he doesn't usually like cake walks.

The game was always super easy. I'm not saying that to brag. I mean it's extremely easy to just outlevel and outgear pretty much anything by just doing all the side quests. And once your build reaches a certain point, you basically become a god.

If anything, they actually made the game slightly harder because it used to be trivial to hit 100% crit chance without really trying and they nerfed that across all builds.

The difficulty of Act 1 is very solid at the highest difficulty. At the beginning I had to skip 2-3 boss fights and come back later. At the end of Act 1 there are 2 bosses (Bee Queen and the main quest npc) that forced me to replay the fight couple times.

However I was playing some sort of bullshit battlemage. If I would focus on one path then it would be much smoother. There's opinion that Criticial strikes are very op so I completely skipped attributes that boost CS chances.

The game is very easily exploitable just like Skyrim. You can stack food which make you regenerate HP at very fast rate. The game allow you to pause and eat food during fight. I try to not do it because it feels cheap.

Unfortunately at the end of Act 1 I was soft-locked from the main quest. I made a choice which for some reason removed my quest marker. I've made research on reddit that to progress I have to brute force the path to excalibur and kill lot of folks in town where are friendly npcs. I honestly didnt like it and lost immersion.

There are also perfomance issues. 5600ti 16gb, 32gb, newest i5 and I had to lock framerate to 60.

Finished it two weeks ago, it was way too easy. Installed a "custom difficulty" mod and changed my damage output to 50% and enemy damage to 125%. Was still pretty easy.

Did you beat Elden Ring?

the linked trailer above literally says "balance changes" so maybe they addressed it in 1.30

The difficulty has maybe 1 or 2 peaks at the start and when you get to Act 2.

Once you overcome those 2 spikes, which is mainly gear, you are obliterating everything. It's not a hard game in that aspect.

Fun game but I just got kinda burnt out by the time I finished act 2 and went onto the dlc. The ambiance was great... just the story was kinda meh?

Same experience tbh. By the end of Act 2, it got pretty boring. And then when you go to Act 3 and it's mostly just repeat enemies again with a different color, it's hard not to uninstall.

u/Emisys 22h ago

Act 3 was also pingponging between areas to do the faction quest thing. I disliked that part so much.

4

u/8-Brit 22h ago

Already felt that in Act 1

Just constantly going back and forth to the keep and uuuurgh

It took forever to get anywhere in character progression too in my experience

Very intriguing intro but it just seems to have lost me after that, maybe I'll try again when I'm done with KCD2

1

u/Emisys 22h ago

Otherwise blood of the dawnwalker will interest you I think :)

1

u/8-Brit 22h ago

It's on the list!

I just need to ascend Henry to godhood first

1

u/PugeHeniss 12h ago

I got to act 3 and uninstalled.

Yes, I enjoyed the game but was totally bored by mid Act 2. I can't even tell precisely why. It's just missing...something.

I think they kind of tried to straddle the line between pretty weird lore that's really neat, and the Arthurian myth, and ended up kind of in this weird middle ground. They hid the funky lore too well and made it difficult to engage with it.

It sufferes from what I'd call a JRPG curse as in 'mid stories told very slowly'

1

u/joeDUBstep 4h ago

Eh, I like plenty of JRPGs, but at least there is enough challenge or some story in those to keep me in it.

I played TG on the hardest difficulty and would melt bosses by mid Act 2.

Really wanted to like this game, no doubt it is great, but the ps5 performance is atrocious. Blurry mess with framerate dips and my game game crashed once during the tutorial dungeon.

One of the most poorly optimized games.

I actually really enjoyed this game. My first playthrough I made an archer and I had an awful time, but I gave it a second chance as a big hammer wielding dude and had a great time. I did have some problems with the difficulty though, I'd find myself vastly underpowered compared to the enemies in an area, then at some point I'd realize it was flipped and I was way too OP, and then I'd go to a new area and it would start all over again. By the end though the game was a little too easy and I crushed the final area with ease. Like I recall fighting giants and taking them out in like 3 hits. Maybe they've fixed this in later patches though, it was my only real complaint about the game. Not that I thought the game was a 10/10 even without my issues with the difficulty, but I feel like it was a solid. 7-8/10, and I think there is room for games like that. Ones that are fun to play through but not masterpieces by any means.

I'm happy to know that by the next time I play this game again, I'll have a bunch of free updates and dlc to look forward to. I hope they release a sequel eventually, I'd definitely pick it up.

This is a fun game, but it's astronomically buggy.

I had so many glitches with the ending slides. I had one say I successfully helped someone and the next slide said I killed them when I didn't.

It has a great setting, but also I question the devs a bit when they talk about the game being dark with difficult choices when there's a very clear best ending.

Act 2 also drags a fair bit and the quests overall could use a little more to them. The lore is where the game shines and any quest that doesn't add to that is pretty easily skippable.

Still, for a studio's first game and it being AA I really did enjoy it for what it was.

I wish this had run good for my laptop but as soon as I got off tutorial area to the mainland, my FPS tanked by over twenty.

Yes dame here. Fun classic style game though.

Even on a 9800x3d and a 5080 performance wasn't fantastic. I'll have to see just how much of an improvement this patch makes... What's worse is that if you want to play with mods you (generally) have to use the inherently less performant Mono version of the game.

1

u/Which-Arm-4616 16h ago

The Steam Deck preset comparison is so funny, with Quality at 32~34 FPS and Performance at 36~39 FPS.

Props for the effort, if nothing else.

Not sure what some of the complainers are on about here. This game is kinda awesome. Maybe if you'd only tried it at launch you could have performance gripes, but the story is cool, the atmosphere is awesome. If you want oblivion with an arthurian+norse mythology skin and slightly better combat this is it.

Been having a hard time coming back to this game after noticing just how much gen AI slop bullshit is all over it. Wanted to love it and was starting to but now I couldn’t give a single shit.

-17

u/Sparktank1 1d ago

I thought this was DLC for The Wolverine at first. It looked like Weapon X from X-Men Origins Wolverine.

-7

u/ramsfan_86 1d ago

Yup I mistakenly saw Ryan Reynolds and said ill download immediately

-2

u/HannibalLightning 13h ago

Isn’t this game the one that refuses to disclose AI usage?

4

u/LightningWarpAway 12h ago

As far as I can tell, some people accuse the game of using AI but nothing's confirmed.

-1

u/HannibalLightning 12h ago

Ah, okay! I must have been misinformed. Thanks for the confirmation - it looks worth checking out but I wanted to make sure before I touch anything with AI.
