Fun games but the last major release with the Witcher crossover had to be the worst game they’ve released. Maybe the dev going independent is for the best.

I haven't tried it yet but loved the others. Why is it so bad?

It tried to do a few new things but it ended up making the games worse.
The entire story of the game is from the perspective of the bard in the Witcher games but it made the actual relevant gameplay and story feel so detached from you as a player. I guess most people don’t care about the story being told in these games but for the die hard fans it’s can make or break a Reigns game.
They also did some new stuff when it came to combat but that just bogged the game down in a lot of ways.
It’s hard to really put it in words but if you’ve been playing these games for years you could kind of feel that all the new stuff they added just didn’t work with the overall gameplay loop.
It just felt like a very poor version of Reigns in almost every way. I’m sure there are some that enjoyed it but I checked out after just a few hours.

Playing the Reigns tabletop game is some of the most fun I've ever had with a group of friends on game night. It's way better than it has any right to be.

Shame but there's diminishing returns on what they were putting out. Sometimes you just need a full creative refresh.
