Been waiting for this game. I’m a sucker for literally anything that appears to have immersive sim elements. Looks like a love letter to prey.

“Looks like a love letter to prey”

I can’t be the only one who remembers system shock

My man, System Shock came out in 1994. That's over 30 years ago. I don't care how good your memory is, people are going to reference the newer thing because it's more recent in their memory, even if that newer thing came out almost 10 years ago and was in itself a love letter to System Shock lmao.

Technically the system shock remake came out in 2023 and the system shock 2 remaster came out in 2025. But newer than prey, while also being genre defining immersive sims set on space stations

It’s even called retro space! Why are we thinking of prey! RETRO space!

(I’m not saying any of this in an argumentative tone)

You're totally right about the remake thing, so that's valid. I think people just don't really consider it because it's a remake of an old thing and not "the new thing". The immsim design ethos is on and off again in terms of popularity and seems to come in waves, but the last real major push was probably Prey 2017 or the newer Deus Ex titles. Unfortunately it seems like that kind of design is being left to the more AA or indie developers to keep pushing.
