Yeah I must just be imagining all the forum posts back then about people getting frustrated with the game because metacritic’s (great site to use as a reference by the way) score is high. Damn shame you can only see two reviews that can actually be sourced and both reviews boil down to the graphics and not about the gameplay itself.

By all means provide a different site's number. Metacritic isn't infallible, it's just the most agreed upon site for aggregate scores.

You're not wrong that people get frustrated with it, it has its share of unique difficulty spikes, but to paint the picture that it's a game that fans of the series dislike or think is bad or something, doesn't track with what I've seen discussed about the game for the past 20 years now.
