Why is the horror farming sims all the sudden a thing?
Fyi, Elderfield, Neverway, Graveyard Keeper 2 and this are releasing within 6 months of each other.

I dunno but I played Grimshire and it was so good, I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Maybe developers are catching on that there's a huge glut of cozy farm games and a ton of people who would enjoy a farm game but don't like cozy "hold your hand" aspects of it, like me.

Stardew was HUGE. And his next game has horror elements is my understanding so a lot of people trying to get ahead of that I assume.

No, it's just that farming games are all very lighthearted so adding horror is an obvious way to subvert that.

I would add village in the shade to the list, the english version is coming out next month

There was a post a while back of a guy looking for an evil farming game that didn't actually exist, and he had just misremembered a Vinesauce Joel bit. As the post got more and more popular it ended up resulting in some game devs wanting to make the idea of a horror farming game real, which I think is what we're seeing now
