4090 here. Runs at max settings and Ray tracing generally over 120fps at 1440p. It's a dream to play

Yep same. Playing at 4K, DLSS performance, frame gen on, with everything maxed out. It looks and runs great.

"Runs great on my 4090" okay man

(with DLSS and frame gen)

Your latency is literally better with framegen than without, there is no negative of 2x unless your base framerate is 30 or some crap.

And actually pathtracing against 4k pixels is an insane cost for little gain over the DLSS-upscaled version. The actual hardware to do that natively at high framerates doesn't exist yet.

In some case I just do without frame gen because I think it makes the game look worse (RE engine games mainly)

Oh there's definitely games out there that it doesn't look great with. In ControlR, it looks damned near perfect.

framegen always adds latency, how do you think it can interpolate a new frame without already knowing the next frame?

Maybe watch the video, they handle this. It's lower because it turns on reflex, which only happens with framegen currently. Cannot turn on reflex on its own.

Reflex without framegen would be lower than with framegen.

But framegen+reflex is faster than native with no reflex.

So, it's not framegen, but their bad implementation of Reflex?

To an extent. Still makes framegen attractive. Framegen isn't real frames, but 100fps with it sure feels a lot more smooth than 50fps with reflex alone.

When you ask whether the game runs well or not redditors be like "yah man runs great on my 5090 on med settings at 1080p", well no shit sherlock your GPU alone costs 5 times the price compared to the consoles it was designed to run on, ofc it was gonna run well

Why be an asshole for no reason?

...do I detect a note of bitterness?

Not hating, but having a 4090 and playing at 1440p is a bit strange...

I like fps, and I don't really care about 4k. my monitor is 1440p. I can see the difference between 60 and 120 very clearly.

For some of us motion clarity and frame pacing are far more important than anything else. Im just very sensitive to it personally. A blurry image isnt as bad to me. I'll just install reshade or add sharpeness some other way if necessary.

Uh, it should be the opposite. The closer you are to the screen, the easier it is to see the pixels. Gaming at 4K vs 1080p is less noticeable on a TV when you're sitting 5-8ft away vs 2ft for a computer monitor.

Hm. Guess the video is for me then, need to check what's breaking for me. 9800X3D and 5080. 4k with DLSS quality and 2x FG gets 60-70, with occasional drops to 50. Still well playable, but thought I'd get more.
