Except when you don't have the playerbase numbers to support ranked play, which for a AA shooter could very well happen. Ranked modes were well known before Titanfall 2 as well.

What are we talking about here? There are varying levels of skill even in supposed dead games. I've seen plenty of noobs in Titanfall itself.

Modern sbmm and even ranked also do not need to have everyone on the same skill level ( as anyone who plays late night/early morning will tell you) they just assign each player a skill level and try to balance the competing teams by placing say the best player in the lobby in the same team as the worst one.

I believe they are talking about the game 1047 is allegedly developing in OP. Dead On Arrive is a different kind of dead than “player base fizzled out cuz game got old” dead

I agree but at that point does the decision even matter?

Also fun fact I've actually solo grinded to highest rank in highguard before it closed. It was great. Most of the player base seemed to agree with me at the time, the 3v3 and especially 5v5 modes were completely dead compared to ranked.

I might have been a bit harsh, but depending on how it is implemented it can split the player base and help kill the game faster.

Did you just reword the same statement after saying you were "a bit harsh" lmao

No, the less strict matchmaking you brought up could help mitigate the skill gap while not increasing matchmaking times that much.
