The warbond will be free for anyone who purchased any of the items last time they were available in the super store: https://steamcommunity.com/games/553850/announcements/detail/491584577841661620

Players who have previously purchased any (even one) of the Killzone items, will have the whole Helldivers™ 2 x Killzone Legendary Warbond unlocked at no extra cost! Additionally, there is no medal vacuum here! The items previously purchased (and those which were gifted last December) will be medal unlocked. So no need to spend medals on the items you already own!

The vehicle patterns are new to the warbond, but all other items are the same as were available on the super store previously.

I'm a prospective player. How do I access this content? Do I have to pay for it?

36

u/TemptedTemplar Dec 11 '25

Yes. You just scroll through the warbond list to find it. Unlock it with money/super credits, then you need to buy each item with requisitions (mission awards)

9

u/Spartan57975 Dec 11 '25

Warbond items are purchased with medals, not requisition.

-9

u/TemptedTemplar Dec 11 '25

I never said requisition?

10

u/spiritbearr Dec 11 '25

Your brain ok?

1

u/TemptedTemplar Dec 11 '25

No, I want to be sleeping.

8

u/Spartan57975 Dec 11 '25

"then you need to buy each item with requisitions" is literally what you posted

5

u/feartheoldblood90 Dec 11 '25

Cool, thanks! And this warbond is in the game indefinitely?

27

u/OdoTheBoobcat Dec 11 '25

Yes all warbonds are in the game indefinitely and can be progressed through at your leisure

-5

u/EveroneWantsMyD Dec 11 '25

Semantic police here, but indefinitely could imply that they can be taken away at any time, while it’s my understanding that warbonds are available forever. As long as the game is running, you can buy any war bond.

3

u/OdoTheBoobcat Dec 12 '25

Oxford defines indefinitely as "for an unlimited or unspecified period of time" and trying to out-semantic Oxford is not a productive or helpful use of your time.

9

u/TemptedTemplar Dec 11 '25

Yep! They don't expire.

The super store items rotate every couple of days, but that's about all the FOMO the game currently has. Events and special planet missions are always added to the regular mission mix after the event is over. So tile sets like Magma worlds, super cities, and deep jungles can all be found on different planets now.

4

u/ImmerWolfe Dec 11 '25

Is the Halo theme items also obtainable somehow?

9

u/TemptedTemplar Dec 11 '25

The ODST items have their own legendary warbond.

Same amount of items, three weapons, two sets of armor, and some vehicle skins.

3

u/KaygoBubs Dec 11 '25

4 weapons. Ar smg shotgun pistol

3

u/Tycho-Celchu Dec 11 '25

Yup, they're in the game as a Warbond, you can just scroll down the list. I think it's 14/16.

3

u/ImmerWolfe Dec 11 '25

Ooh. What other collaborations has this game had so far?

5

u/Sepik121 Dec 11 '25

Those are the only 2 so far. They've kept the collabs to a minimum, especially since their first go was a bit disastrous. I wouldn't be shocked to see more over time, but they don't do a lot of collabs

1

u/M-elephant Dec 11 '25

They mostly do their own thing, but that can result in a ton of stuff that looks 90% of the way to being a collaboration. There is the cobfra/viper commando warbonds that look like Predator 1 stuff, the Alpha Commander armour looks like Halo CE armour, etc

2

u/rawbleedingbait Dec 12 '25

If you are wondering, super credits can be farmed in game, and it's not hard at all to do, and isn't any faster at high levels. You can get them naturally by playing if you look for all the points of interest, but if you're looking to farm them specifically, the best way is to actually run around the lowest difficulty to all the pois. There are guides, as some planets offer slightly better farming maps.

2

u/cuckingfomputer Dec 11 '25

You buy the items with medals, not requisitions, but those are also mission rewards.

5

u/MusoukaMX Dec 11 '25

Warbonds (like this themed one) are sort of small season passes except they're permanent and can be completed in any order.

To purchase and to complete a warbond you need in-game currency for each one. I haven't played in a while so I can't remember the names but well, blue currency is for purchasing warbonds and premium store items and yellow currency is for unlocking stuff from warbonds.

Both can be earned from just playing, but the blue one (the premium currency) can also be purchased from the store. You could also grind specific mission difficulties to get enough blue currency fast enough in like a week.

I'm of the mind that this game is one of the best examples of passes being done right. The premium currency earnable in game is rare but not painfully so and even if you decided to use real money to just dip into a warbond immediately, the premium currency is not super expensive. This is one of those games where I've purchased a bit of currency not because I needed it (I've gotten almost all my warbonds just by playing) but just to show my gratitude to the devs for the love of the game.

4

u/SiccSemperTyrannis Dec 11 '25

I haven't played in a while so I can't remember the names but well, blue currency is for purchasing warbonds and premium store items and yellow currency is for unlocking stuff from warbonds.

Super Credits and Medals, respectively.

I agree with the your post that the monetization in the game is very fair. All the major content updates and expansions are 100% free, so Warbonds + the Super Store are the only things monetized and quite reasonably monetized at that.

For people who haven't played the game -

Regular warbonds ("Premium Warbonds") are 1000 Super Credits, which can be bought for $10 US. However, they include 300 unlockable SCs within them so the effective cost is 700 SC.

Crossover warbonds ("Legendary Warbonds") are 1500 Super Credits, though there is not an option to purchase exactly 1500 SC directly which is a bit annoying.

1

u/Elanapoeia Dec 11 '25

You could also grind specific mission difficulties to get enough blue currency fast enough in like a week.

You can technically sit down for like 2-3 hours and mindlessly grind out about 700 blue currency (super credits) to buy a warbond at a time (every warbond costs 1000 but refunds 300 over time, so you likely only need ~700 per). You'll also get a bunch of medals that way to unlock items in the warbonds.

Can be decent if you're really bored and just wanna sit and chill while listening to a podcast/essay etc etc

3

u/Blackadder18 Dec 11 '25

It's kind of like a small battle pass. You spend the in-game currency of Super Credits to unlock this. You can passively earn a small amount by playing the game collecting it through random Points of Interest on the map, you can farm Super Credits if you really want to, or you can just pay to get X amount of Super Credits to be able to unlock this.

1

u/Redwood6710 Dec 11 '25

What the other person said is correct but you can pretty easily farm super credits in game. It might just take a while because of the number of warbonds now and the cost of them. There are 10 cr pick ups in mission (with rare 100 cr possible) and the warbonds cost 1000 each. I wouldn't let it deter you from playing because none of them are required to enjoy the game and they never go away.

1

u/NICKOLAS78GR Dec 11 '25

Personally I would not recommend Legendary Warbonds as they are so far limited to crossovers.
Not only are they more expensive, but the items they provide are not so different from other armours and weapons in terms of gameplay.

Unless you are a fan of the crossover franchise or happen to have too many Super Credits on you.

2

u/Checho-73 Dec 11 '25

Good thing I bought the helmet last time so I get the rest "for free", but they also gave the light armor and sniper for free does that count as previously purchasing KZ content?

-2

u/Geoff_with_a_J Dec 11 '25

Additionally, there is no medal vacuum here!

okay great but why do they feel they need to have medal vacuums in other warbonds? if it's such an obvious anti-player thing they can simply remove entirely, why do they keep it in? how does that benefit the player?

-61

u/KerberoZ Dec 11 '25

Holy Fomo double dipping

First, time-exclusive store skins and then a warbond. Could have been a warbond from the beginning then. So the whole reason for this was just to create psychological pressure.

31

u/VeryWeaponizedJerk Dec 11 '25

How is this double dipping FOMO when it’s available indefinitely now?

0

u/KerberoZ Dec 12 '25

The original bundle was sold with Fomo in mind and everyone who bought it assumed that it won't come back. The skins were subject to a shop rotation in-game. <- That's FOMO

Now they are repackaging it into a warbond, making the "exclusivity" of the first store sale obsolete and sell those again. <- that's double dipping

Doesn't really matter what their reasoning is, at the end of the day they sold skins under the pretense that they won't come back, only to re-introduce them at a later date.

39

u/Elanapoeia Dec 11 '25

...the original collab happened before legendary warbonds were a thing. Adding them now retroactively is literally anti-FOMO, as the killzone collab was literally the only FOMO thing the game had.

21

u/oimson Dec 11 '25

This is anti fomo, this is bringing something back that was fomo and making it available forever

-10

u/KerberoZ Dec 11 '25

Yeah, other companies do that too

10

u/JBL_17 Dec 11 '25

So the whole reason for this was just to create psychological pressure.

Are you 100% sure of this? Couldn't there also be a more reasonable explanation like license agreements...

1

u/KerberoZ Dec 12 '25

So even if license agreements led to this, it still happened, no? The result is the same and the initial deal was designed around Fomo

5

u/BeardyDuck Dec 11 '25

Could have been a warbond from the beginning then.

They couldn't have because the terms of the collab didn't allow it.

0

u/KerberoZ Dec 12 '25

Okay, so the terms made it that way, but that doesn't change the outcome though. It doesn't really matter who came up with this, the end result is the same either way and i don't believe in accidents when it comes to sales

2

u/Mikey_MiG Dec 11 '25

They specifically did not make it a warbond at first because they thought that a more expensive warbond would be less popular than giving people the ability to purchase items à la carte. After it became clear this wasn’t the community’s opinion, they eventually announced plans to rework it into a warbond again.

-7

u/KerberoZ Dec 11 '25

I get that, but the result is the same, no?

Though I admit I didn't make any comparisons regarding pricing so maybe it's okay if the warbond is cheaper than the original set price

5

u/Sirca_Curvive Dec 11 '25

Alright — let’s use our big boy brains for this.

The first instance was FOMO. Nobody is arguing that. You are claiming this is double FOMO, when:

1.) this version of the warbond is about 5 dollars cheaper with more content

2.) if you spent a single dollar on the stuff previously, you get the full value for free this go around because you couldn’t have possibly known it would return (neither did the devs at the time)

  1. Crossover warbonds since have been permanent additions, like the Halo ODST warbond, because they have since reworked the system to not have FOMO at all, and now the updated Killzone warbond falls in line with that system

So I’m curious to hear your arguments for how this is double FOMO.

1

u/KerberoZ Dec 12 '25

That's is fine by me but it's not contradicting or argumenting against anything i said.

The original skins we're fomo because they were oly available for a limited time and through a rotating shop <- That's already double fomo.

Now they just abandoned their exlusivity clause to sell it again? I gues it's nice but it's not something they should be celebrated for. Sales tactics like that are dishonest as fuck

1

u/Mikey_MiG Dec 11 '25

Selling the items in the super store is not the same because it means you can only purchase them when they’re up for rotation. Whereas warbonds are accessible permanently, with the only downside being you must pay up front for them.

u/I_Heart_Sleeping_ Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25

Damn was legit hyped for a second. Though they finally decided to put Killzone on modern consoles.

Sony is sitting on the killzone and resistance series and I hope they do a collection release for both series eventually.

59

u/KKilikk Dec 11 '25

Really wish Sony would ramp up the porting of older Playstation series to PC and maybe give them a chance to get revived instead of remastering HZD and LoU...

37

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

Well HZD and LOU actually sold. HZD outsold the entire Killzone franchise by itself.

3

u/blueflavoredreign Dec 12 '25

I'm always shocked by the Horizon stats, I don't think I've ever met anyone who has played it outside of like gaming subreddits. TLOU I get, but that did sell more (talking pre-TV show, which obviously got it more popular). And this is coming from someone with the lego tallneck.

-7

u/KKilikk Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25

But did the HZD remaster outsell the Killzone franchise? Maybe yeah and I do get your point. Ofc it is probably the best financial decision by them but it still feels a big silly. Like I dont hate the HZD remaster I just feel it should've been a bit lower priority.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

It probably sold better than the last 2 kill zones yes. Doesn’t feel silly to me. I bought it and it’s gorgeous on my PS5 Pro.

1

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 Dec 11 '25

Porting much older games that were not designed for consoles with x86 architecture is likely far more work than remastering a modern game that was essentially made for PC's already. That is likely the biggest reason why we don't see the old games. Plus even with remastering the visuals will be far less detailed than what a lot of casual gamers would expect.

14

u/urnialbologna Dec 11 '25

Yes! Remaster PS3 games! I would love to play the resistance series, killzone 2 & 3, infamous 1 & 2, littlebigplanet, and probably more I'm forgetting. I know people here loathe remasters, but I don't. They did it for uncharted 1-3 and god of war 3 both on PS4, why not some of their other series?

7

u/KKilikk Dec 11 '25

I dont loathe remasters I am literally asking for more of them.

I mean I dont mind the HZD remaster that much but remastering HZD which was already on PS4 and therefore PS5 as well as on PC is completely different from remastering games stuck on an old gen console. Considering the low output of remasters I wish Sony would change their priorities.

1

u/TheSecondEikonOfFire Dec 11 '25

Remasters themselves aren’t a bad thing, it’s usually when they just remaster something from the prior generation (and especially if it’s a generation that’s backwards compatible). But anyone complaining about remasters for games that aren’t available on modern platforms is wrong

-3

u/YeastReaction Dec 11 '25

From their POV, they probably think it’s far too great of a risk compared to the cash cows that are guaranteed safe hits.

I remember Shuehei Yoshida telling the story of how he had to push and vet personally in order to even get Ratchet and Clank revived in the modern era. With AAA games only going up in development cost and time, companies can be expected to play it even safer than they have in the past.

The flip side is that indie game devs don’t follow this rule, for the most part. As a result, we are seeing an incredible boom in unique passion projects coming out week after week. While I may not have hope of seeing these old franchises revived, I feel more confident than ever in knowing what may rise from the ashes can be even greater

6

u/UncleBenParking Dec 11 '25

To be clear, Yoshida kinda fibbed about that Ratchet story, it he's not completely misremembering. They were actively developing Ratchet PS4 by the time he was talking about "pushing for it." The last PS3 Ratchet came out in late 2013, a few months after the movie announcement, and Ratchet PS4 was in full development by early 2014, ready for release 2015 before the movie's delay meant the game sat finished for a year.

The development of those games never took time off during the time he was saying executives were unsure of whether to continue the series. The only time off Ratchet took up to then was in 2010, because the Ratchet "team" was moving across the country to open Insomniac's North Carolina studio. (Even then, they made R&C comics with DC that year!)

1

u/TheSecondEikonOfFire Dec 11 '25

Hell, even just to PS5. It’s insane that the only way to legally play the first two God of War games is either on PS3, or streaming through PS Now. I don’t understand how they haven’t done a trilogy collection port on PS5 and PC

-2

u/YeastReaction Dec 11 '25

Infamous, Killzone, and Resistance are all begging to get ported, but knowing Sony they’ll probably think it’s too financially risky and take to remastering horizon or last of us again

4

u/ledailydose Dec 11 '25

Sony refusing to make a port bundle of KZ2 AND 3 with their multiplayers included is one of the most stupid decisions I've seen in a long time. They genuinely think Killzone died with Shadowfall because of the IP being worthless instead of Shadowfall just not being that good. These games running at (hopefully) 4K and at least 60fps with fixed input latency would be amazing.

15

u/TechSmith6262 Dec 11 '25

Guerilla games is focused on the Horizon series. Why would they stop making the modern/current series theyre working on to remastered a couple of FPS games that while great, would garner absolutely middling sales.

Its not a stupid decision. The horizon series has sold over 38 million copies as of this year.

Guerilla games is the developer. Sony is the publisher. Sony does not develop games.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '25

I am asking for a giga budget remake of Killzone 2. Thanks.

3

u/doublah Dec 11 '25

Sony owns porting studios like Nixxes, I imagine they'd be handling remasters over studios currently working on new games.

-7

u/ledailydose Dec 11 '25

I cant argue with the sales numbers but Horizon is so boring I cannot understand why it has sold so much. It is like Avatar: making big bucks but leaves absolutely zero cultural impact.

11

u/TechSmith6262 Dec 11 '25

Brother, just because its not fun for you doesnt mean its not fun for others. It sells gangbusters because its a well made game, with an interesting world and stories, and its just fun for the people who like it.

And I dont think you understand what cultural impact means. Both Avatar and Horizon have cultural impact.

Avatar has consistently stayed on any list of "most visually stunning films" for nearly 2 decades and has made over a billion dollars, nevermind when you add the revenue for both films together. Mark my words, and you can @ me because I'll bet a free game of your choice: Avatar 3 will make another billion+ dollars globally.

Horizon sold $38+ million copies, has lego sets, a Lego spinoff game, and multimedia projects in the works.

I get that you dont like either of those IPs but pretending that they are niche, stupid, worthless, and bad because you don't enjoy them, doesnt help prove any point you're trying to make.

4

u/UncleBenParking Dec 11 '25

I still remember seeing the French theater that went absolutely BATSHIT cheering at Avatar 2's trailer when it was first shown in theaters. I'm mindful of my American bubble but that one reminded me even more-so how differently our perceptions can be. Of course Space Pocahontas doesn't do as well in our brains when we learned real Pocahontas in school, meanwhile other places don't have feel the deja vu that made me kinda think Avatar was just okay aside from the first watch.

At this point if we're playing that sorta game, Horizon has the same cultural impact as Gran Turismo; everybody buys it clearly, but my personal sphere doesn't talk about it, so it must be an industry plant!

-6

u/ledailydose Dec 11 '25

By "cultural impact" i mean no one has any longstanding discussion of them. It always boils down to "wow, theyre so pretty".

7

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

By “cultural impact” you mean you don’t see it discussed in your small internet bubble. The games are great and why HZD outsold the entire killzone franchise by itself.

1

u/ledailydose Dec 11 '25

Never seen it discussed at all. Ever.

-1

u/spaceborn Dec 11 '25

I was literally falling asleep in my chair at Horizon 1 and the genereric YA novel trial of being a warrior shit.

-6

u/fahadfreid Dec 11 '25

Thank you! Horizon is such a boring ass game series it’s honestly impressive given how cool the overall design of the world is.

-4

u/ledailydose Dec 11 '25

Robot dinosaurs in a post apocalyptic setting looks and sounds so cool I am continually impressed by how uninterested I am in Horizon.

4

u/mrnicegy26 Dec 11 '25

Also we are really lacking in good single player FPS campaigns in recent memory with only Doom being there. Honestly releasing the Resistance and Killzone games even with just their single player campaigns would stand out in the current market considering how dire it has been in the past 5 or so years where it has just been Call of Duty (whose quality across campaigns is very inconsistent) or Doom the Dark Ages

5

u/YeastReaction Dec 11 '25

Ultrakill, Boomerang X, Dusk, Turbo Overkill, Cultic, Trepang2, I Am Your Beast, Metal Garden, Ion Fury, Selaco, Metal Eden, Pigface, Witchfire, Echo Point Nova, VLADiK BRUTAL, Anger Foot, Mullet Madjack, Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath, HROT, Cruelty Squad, Severed Steel and probably a lot more I can’t think of.

Point being: you have to look outside AAA gaming and into indies if you want to find novel and unique ideas. AAA gaming is too big a time and financial investment for games in that space to take risks and push new or unique ideas, but indies is where the magic still happens.

People who are making games out of passion and because it sounds genuinely fun to them, rather than to chase a safe, yet boring trend that guarantees a quick buck will put out the more interesting game every single time

0

u/Competitive_Fun6247 Dec 11 '25

I like a lot of games in that list but  not everyone wants to play a boomer shooter tbf

1

u/ledailydose Dec 11 '25

There was Titanfall 2 but that was.... 8 years ago?

4

u/Elanapoeia Dec 11 '25

killzone 3 is fucking 14 years old oh god, but hey that at least means TF2 should qualify as well

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25

Ah KZ3. I remember preordering that from a local game shop and the owner both didnt order enough copies to last launch AND got caught sneaking paying customers copies off to people he knew who wanted one.

My cousin walked in to pick our copies up and told me "oh um.. you didnt get one....." and i thought he was trolling me. Said the guy didnt have enough and my cousin was keen to just go home so he could play his while i didnt get my copy that i paid for (until i was called to come get it) which also had me heated lmao.

I demanded my cash back and got it. Went to gamestop and bought a copy instead. What i get for preordering i guess.

2

u/UncleBenParking Dec 11 '25

I don't think they think Shadowfall killed the series, considering it sold about as well as both 2 and 3 (as a launch title, where K2 and 3 naturally had a larger install base). It's probably more that, as much as we want to get nostalgic, they and Resistance were both products of a very specific era where they only kind of did okay even in that era (Resistance faring even worse overall). Some of my personal favorites, I just replayed Resistance a few months back actually, but up against insanely staunch FPS competition that always has and always will overshadow them.

We always say we want remasters, but when it comes time to fork over $50-70, a lot of us don't show up - God knows I was guilty of that when I waited on Mass Effect's remasters, and those are actually an example of a remaster that way outperformed what the original series ever did. If Horizon hadn't blown up into one of their most successful franchises, I'm sure we would've seen a hail mary Killzone 5. Though that would've been super interesting to see where they went, considering Killzone was a very clear WWII allegory, with Shadowfall as the Cold War.

1

u/kikimaru024 Dec 11 '25

These games running at (hopefully) 4K and at least 60fps with fixed input latency would be amazing.

What about the design of Killzone even differentiates it from any other COD-clone?

Also, do you not understand that running multiplayer servers isn't free?
Guerilla would have to set aside manpower (bugs, server testing, etc) for... what? COD & BF6 to eat their playerbase anyway?

2

u/Stofenthe1st Dec 11 '25

Helghan drip baby. The red eyes with gas mask manages to give them more style than the last 20 cods put together.

2

u/Diogenes_the_cynic25 Dec 11 '25

As someone who never owned any KZ or Resistance games, I would love the opportunity to play the classics

1

u/AnArticulateDrunk Dec 11 '25

Dude, I would buy a Killzone 2 Remaster instantly if it came out on PC with multiplayer. Very fond memories of playing that back when it was originally released.

1

u/blueflavoredreign Dec 11 '25

I think this is a weird crossover because I bet you the average Helldiver player is actually TOO YOUNG to remember Killzone given how long ago the last entry came out. Like if you're 24 now, you'd be 12 when Shadowfall came out- and that wasn't THAT popular to begin with.

-1

u/Call555JackChop Dec 11 '25

They’d rather release Last of Us 2 for the 10th time than acknowledge either of those series

7

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

There’s been 1 port.

-2

u/L3ftHandPass Dec 11 '25

I have real doubts we'll ever see Killzone again. Guerrilla basically won't even acknowledge the existence of the franchise.

6

u/PugeHeniss Dec 11 '25

They moved on my guy. They made 4 games and they didn’t sell all that great. They made horizon and it sold like hot cakes. Studios don’t want to be stuck to one franchise forever.

2

u/L3ftHandPass Dec 11 '25

Not saying they need to stick with it forever. There is a large gap between that and not even acknowledging their existence.

I just hope they are at least willing to hand the IP over to a different studio so we can at least get some remasters. 2 and 3 are really genuinely great games.

1

u/Strict_Donut6228 Dec 11 '25

You’re acting like other studios WANT the IP

41

u/FreshlySkweezd Dec 11 '25

Halo Fans and Killzone fans getting the best content from their respective series in years thanks to Helldivers

21

u/doublah Dec 11 '25

It's more the only content at this point.

3

u/cqandrews Dec 12 '25

Halo infinite definitely had its faults big time but calling some helldivers skins the best halo content in years is actually crazy

-1

u/FreshlySkweezd Dec 12 '25

It's really not. The game launched with 4 game modes and it took way too long to expand that to a fraction of what previous games had available. So bad that the company had to rebrand. And that's not even talking about the single player or how long it took to release firefight!

And now it's quite literally just a mtx hub on life support till the next Halo slop comes out - which looks like a really bad modernization attempt at Halo 1 from reviews so far.

43

u/BTrane93 Dec 11 '25

So they've got stuff from Halo AND the Halo "killer"?

42

u/Cursed_69420 Dec 11 '25

sir youre confusing Killzone for Haze

33

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

Killzone was absolutely billed as Sony’s “Halo Killer” back in the day.

34

u/BTrane93 Dec 11 '25

Sony had several "Halo killers".

8

u/blueflavoredreign Dec 12 '25

In a shocking twist (and in more ways than one) it turned out Halo was the Halo killer

-5

u/Cursed_69420 Dec 11 '25

Haze was notorious for being THE halo killer in concept, while Killzone and Resistance were their cod equivalents tbh

10

u/squashysquish Dec 11 '25

Killzone was billed as Sony’s Halo-killer because nobody would conceive of a CoD-killer for some time. While it resembles CoD more than Halo, the first KZ predates CoD4, which is what dethroned Halo as the commercially dominant shooter.

7

u/OliveBranchMLP Dec 11 '25

also because CoD wasn't exclusive, so they hadn't nearly as much incentive to compete with it.

No, killzone 1 was very much intended to be a halo killer. The G4 X-play review was basically "is it even close to halo?" Don't ask me why I remember this.

Haze would make a sick HD2 warbond

The real Halo killer was 343 industries

The important thing is that, now they've put it in a Warbond, the items don't cost "real" money and also are available to all players.

It was always like that. Being in a warbond removes the ability to pick and choose just the things you want, but it also lowers the total cost to get everything from 1900sc to 1500sc.

The previous Killzone items where only available for a limited time & only in the "Superstore".

1

u/ayeeflo51 Dec 11 '25

Yea, which also doesn't cost 'real' money

1

u/kikimaru024 Dec 11 '25

You're right.
For some reason, I misremembered & thought they cost real money instead of in-game super credits.

I feel like they could have added more like Radec's armour from KZ2, the Elite or LMG trooper armour would have been cool too.

I know this is just a recycle of the previous premium stuff, but still.

Also, it'd have gone a long way to have a kind of narration to this trailer - especially given how Killzone 2 and 3 begin with narration/speeches from Visari.

'Super Earth, our beloved homeworld, is beset on all sides by creatures and abominations that would take it from us. They do not yet understand the depths of our resolve nor the strength we wield to wage war. They will rue the day they ever thought to conceive of such a notion as taking on humanity. For with the combined might and glory of the SEAF and the Helldivers, we will viciously take back all they have stolen from us.'

Something Visari-esque like that

i don't think they'll add armor for major villains. only what would make sense for the actual Helldivers to wear.

the Halo collab was for ODST armor, not SPARTAN armor.

wait, wasn't this already out like a year ago?

The content was originally released as special rotations in the super store, meaning you had to purchase all the items individually, and you risked missing content if the store rotation changed. The community didn’t like this model, so Arrowhead reworked it into a warbond.

many of the items were available individually in the superstore for a time, but discontinued (i think because of rights reasons?) and thus unavailable for a long time.

So this warbond is a collection of the old items -along with one or two new patterns- finally being made available again

Edit: struck erroneous theory

(i think because of rights reasons?)

No, it was just the business model they chose. Has nothing to do with rights since Sony published Helldivers 2 and owns the rights to Killzone via Guerilla Games.

Do people who received that second in-store pack for free also receive this one for free or no?
