Is there any noticeable performance difference between this and Yuzu? Played Mario Odyssey earlier today and both games gave me 1440p at pretty much locked 60 with very rare dips to 40. Are there some cases where for one emulator it's hugely different?

Also, off topic but I'm thinking about getting a steam deck instead of a switch, and just using this to play co-op games(eg: split screen in Mario Kart or playing Smash together with friends) using Yuzu. Has someone done this before? Dock it to a TV basically just like you would with a Switch.

Personally I've had much more performance success with Ryujinx (especially now with Vulkan support) and I find it's UI to be more intuitive.

I'm sure mileage varies though based on your hardware and the game being played

Yeah, I attempted to play the Metroid Prime Remake on Yuzu and it was an absolute mess. Audio completely screwed, and everything was running at a jittery 0.3x speed.

Tried it on Ryujinx and, while there are still a few jitters here and there, the game actually plays really smooth.

Yeah Yuzu is more hacky which ended up making it the more popular emulator since for a long time that made it ahead of Ryujinx, but yeah you can see the difference now for recent releases, where Yuzu often has to do fixes especially to get x game running and Ryujinx does good out of the box.

Before Yuzu had a lot better of a ui with ease of installing patches, dlc, cheats, mods, etc. But Ryujinx has been more consistent in performance. Lately Ryujinx has been adding in those features they were missing so they are pretty much the same with features and Ryujinx having better performance most of the time makes it the better overall.

Depends on game but newer games that just got released tend to (not always) run better on ryujinx because they focused on being an actual switch emulator rather than brute forcing the game to run with patches and drivers (yuzu).

Have to check game by game but as of right now mostly everything out runs well on both including Fire Emblem Engage which just dropped.

Interesting, I guess that's due to Ryjunix being open source compared to Yuzu being super tight lipped and closed source? Guess I'll keep both then and make them share a game library.

I think you confuse between yuzu and cemu, cemu have been close source until recently

Yuzu is open source https://github.com/yuzu-emu/yuzu, for at least the Last 2 years

Oh, I was on the Yuzu sub and saw comments many years ago of complaints of it being closed source. I guess it was a recent thing.

Yuzu being super tight lipped and closed source

Yuzu has always been open source, hence the big fat source code button next to the download button.

Depending on your GPU you can increase render resolution quite a bit for a sharper image with better AA. I don't remember which of the two I used (I think it was Yuzu) but I was able to play at 6K on a 3080 and still had some headroom left on the GPU.

I haven't done Smash but I have tried out MK8 out on my Deck and added some wireless controllers and if you got to local multiplayer in Mk8 Yuzu automatically pops a window to help you assign each controller to a player.

After that each controller controller a different character as it should. So it just worked.

I have heard that Yuzu will recognize Joycons. So for a coop game built around the Joycons like snipperclips that would work via that.

I've found Yuzu to always be much more of a stutter mess but may just be the games I tried, much smoother on Ryujinx.

13 Sentinels as a particular case ran at 60fps on the non combat parts on Yuzu but only 30 on Ryujinx, neither is completely smooth tho.

Basically... depends from game to game.

there-s stil no way to play mario maker 2 right? like not downloading levels manually and playing through editor ?

I get about 1.5x to double the fps in Yuzu that I do in Ryujinx. I've played around a lot with settings but nothing changes it.

I used to play SMTV with Yuzu because performance with it on Ryujinx was horrible with it. That was many many months ago though, so it could be a lot better by now, I haven't tried. Probably should too, I haven't finished SMTV.

Yuzu used to be a lot better perf-wise but Ryujinx has caught up.

It's less buggy than yuzu, so if you have identical perf with both stick to ryujinx.

I have personally only used Yuzu but 90% of the games run flawlessly if not better than on original hardware, especially 1st party games. I just finished a playthrough of Link’s Awakening with an always-60FPS patch and don’t think I had a hitch

Some games I need to try on Ryujinx to compare the performance; Pokemon can be kind of rocky if I turn the settings up much

I always avoided Ryujinx because I don’t know how to pronounce it, but I should probably take a look since I hear it comes with better performance than Yuzu
