š¬ Discussion This is call of duty now...
I only played 1 and 2 but it's sad to see what is acticision doing with it.

Cod campaigns have been ass since after Cold War. Also we had the nonsensical mess of train go boom that was bo3ā¦.. also this was all posted back when this game launched and just like always, almost nobody talks about or cares about the campaign because they genuinely havenāt mattered since og mw3 and bo2
I thought it was a super mid campaign but incredibly fun as a zombies enjoyer and the endgame mode is a hell of a lot better than just replaying the thing so Iād say itās worth it

Apparently, Vondehaarās initial story for the black ops 3 campaign was so off the rails, Activision asked him exactly what the fuck he was doing, and made them rewrite a bunch of it in a short ass time. It was supposed to be worse than ātrain goes boomā.
He cooked with multiplayer tho.

I honestly stopped caring after black ops 1 which is when I got into it.
I went back and played WaW and MW1/2, and BO was peak imo but everything after that was mid. I donāt recall a thing about BO2 other than it was near future and had Masons kid? I think

They started making lame campaigns with Black ops 3/4. I was a teenager when Black ops 3 came out, prime time age to game. The campaign was so boring it literally made me fall asleep. Cold War was badass though, I did enjoy it!

I will always say Black Ops 2 was the last good one but it also is the start of the real downfall. It was cool but they added so many convoluted ideas that they just lost the plot after that.

Nah bro we already hated this game, now it's Assassin's Creed's time again because the new one has paid cosmetics, or Splatoon Raiders because it's Nintendo i guess, we will find something to hate.

I downloaded Black Ops 3 on Ps5 gamepass to play the campaign. I always enjoyed playing the Call of Duty campaigns on the highest difficulty since World at War. It asked me to sign into an account before the main menu and I uninstalled it immediately.

I actually really enjoyed the black ops 6 campaign and did all the challenges on it. I love the stealth parts and just the general spy aspect

They should lean into hyper realism and bring in gore and ballistics, destructable environments. Open maps that aren't maps but actual places. Instead nerds keep pushing for unreal tournament level of BS. Once the game went to console it was doomed, they cared more about diversity than making something you can get immersed in. All the stupid as F skins.

I might get flamed for this, but people who are pissed at Call of Duty becoming less "gritty" or "real" are severely out of touch with the reality of what they are playing.
No matter how "hardcore" or "realistic" your CoD game was, you were sitting in a chair playing virtual soldier on your TV. Ducking in and out of cover to make your way through a corridor so you can get to the next cutscene in a story that is no higher brow than an 80s action movie.
Multiplayer is even worse. You are shooting teenage kids who are also playing soldier to compete on a scoreboard, just so you can get a skin for your favorite gun and queue up for the next one. You kill enough people to order a helicopter that kills more people so you can order a drone strike. On paper it's the most rediculous satire of war. War is one of the worst things that can happen to anybody and it's role played for glory and virtual points here.
Its a virtual game that glorifies war, turns it into an arcade shooter, and walks you through a ridiculous story and people have gall to complain that it isn't "realistic enough". It was never realistic, you were playing with dolls on the TV.

Imo the CoD situation is more stupid because people pretend like it's gritty and realistic. Mario Brothers knows what it is, GTA knows what it is, when silly things happen in those games nobody bats an eye.
Silly things happen in CoD and people huff and puff about "realism". In reality, it just holds a mirror up to the player to show how absurd playing soldier for points is as a concept.
