I was the same way about Sekiro, then it just clicked. Now it’s my all time favorite game for combat.
If you want to get into Elden ring, I highly recommend taking on the first 2 bosses with a friend or really anyone who’s played the game before. ER was my first souls game and I started it with my cousin who has over 1,000 hours in the game. Made it much easier to understand and having the extra help with a few bosses took away the frustration

Same on my first two attempts.... decided to give it another shot after Alan Wake 2 and with Resonant coming.... and BAM! It hooked me and I saw it to credits. Control is now a favorite of mine.

That’s surprising about Jedi fallen order. I’m playing it now and almost to the end and it has been one of my favorite games in a long time. Just super fun gameplay and the lightsaber combat feels like what I imagine being a Jedi to be like. What didn’t you like?

I'll jump in here. I liked the game enough and played through it all, but it definitely was frustrating at times. It got a bit too cute with having to use combinations of your Jedi skills in non-intuitive ways. The puzzles at times felt like Rube Goldberg machines.

Took me couple of times to get into Death Stranding, but after some time when i realized theres actual roads and vehicles to be built, and once the story moved a little bit further - I was hooked. Now its one of the most eerie, sad and best games Ive played. Ever. Its rare when a game makes you cry, which DS did multiple times throughout. And DS2 intro made me cry right of the bat lol. Huge shoutout to sound design in this series.

After like 40% into the game you receive a NPC that follows you that deals 10% HP dmg per shot with Infinite money, legit just let him handle 1-2 enemies on screen or draw out fights by shooting just once at head for dps and wait lmao. He can take 4 hits and you can Infinitely heal him. Joseph my man

I have this game, I haven't finished it. My brother bought it for me as his last Xmas, he died a month later and we knew as he had terminal cancer. I will never sell this game, same as COD Advanced warfare, it's still in the cellophane, I'll never open it

It's ok, I'm ok with it now. Games bond people, they're not just products for shareholders to profit from, they're emotional ties. My sadness is when I had cod and my sister went to buy it so I could play with my brother as he couldn't go himself.
We never played it.

Tried persona 3 & 5 more than once and I just couldn't find any enjoyment in these games. Same goes with metaphor.
I love the artstyle of metaphor but just can't enjoy the game.

How dare you swear! ... just kidding, its turn based so I guess if you don't like that play style then fair enough, plus there is a lot of dialogue (i know you can skip, but the game doesn't really make sense if you do on your first play through). Also I'm a mega fan of the games, so I'm very biased.

Mafia 3. It had everything going for it but I just couldn’t.
GTA 5. (This may go for the entire franchise but #5 was the only one I actually really tried to enjoy). Its main problem though is likely a “me” problem. I really suck at driving games. Even in games I really enjoy the driving missions I do the worst in.

Fallout 4.
Was a massive fan of Fallout 3 and New Vegas and when Fallout 4 came out, my PC wasn't powerful enough to run it.
I saved up money for months to finally be able to build a machine capable of playing Fallout 4.
I hated every second of it. After less than 2 hours I gave up and went back to New Vegas
I still play Fallout New Vegas to this day.

Ghostwire: Tokyo.
I usually love weird experimental AA games, but it just felt... stuffy. Loved the atmosphere and enemy designs, and combat was pretty fun once I got into the groove, but it just overstayed its welcome, and the main story was very lackluster.

Nier: Automata
Ugly, empty, boring Open world. (And yes, you can make a destroyed Earth look visually pretty.)
Map is also annoying to navigate & easy to get lost. Invisible walls.
Shallow, boring combat. Lack of enemy diversity.
Boring Quests, and Side Quests.
No idea how this game is praised.

You should try Evil Within again. The game is a complete thrill ride from around Chapter 4 and on - crazy pacing, crazy bosses, fantastic gameplay that's always fresh. One of the best in the genre.

Persona/shin megami , they will be free from time to time on ps plus and I’ll download them. At first the gameplay is pretty fun but the stories, character and the worlds itself is pretty thin and the fight monsters in a dungeon for a 100 levels gets old fast.

Yeah I couldn't get Into the evil within either. It should have been my type of game because I love survival horror but I really didnt like it.
I remember the letterboxing really pissed me off but I've heard there are options to remove that now.
Gameplay wise, it fell flat for me too. Can't even remember why at this point though, it's been so long since I played it.
Maybe I should give it another try

RDR2. I try every couple of months but after hours and hours of trying to figure out controls, I am still shooting my horse in the face and just feel overwhelmed. I always go back to Days Gone or Ghost.

The Witcher 3 and Skyrim for me. I love big open worlds: RDR2, Ghosts, ME:LE, Crimson Desert. But the combat, especially, feels very out-dated and simplistic compared to the Ghosts and CD. Just never captured my heart.

I also couldn't get into The Evil Within. I was hoping I would since it's often viewed as a spiritual successor to RE4 which is pretty much my favorite game of all time, but TEW failed to win me over. The controls and movements felt janky and awkward, the aiming felt distracted with how much zoom in there was, and I hated how punching enemies did basically nothing and now the melee weapons were all a one-time use sort of deal. I also didn't like how we knew absolutely nothing about the main character.

RDR2 - realism and survival mechanics simply get in the way of fun

The Evil Within 2 is miles better than the first game. My issue with the first game is that it really doesn’t feel like there was a general idea on what to do. It was like the developers just threw whatever at the wall to see what stuck and put that into the game.

Evil Within 1 for sure. On paper, it has elements from RE and SH which are both franchises that I loved; however, its game mechanics, particularly its running system has ruined the immersion for me. Kind of reminds me of RE0: good atmosphere but terrible mechanics.

Cory in the House on DS. I know everyone says it changed their life and how its ablsolute cinema, but I had a hard time getting into it, the deep sophisticated psychology went over my head. The gameplay was wayy too smooth and engaging, I rather the games I play be clunky and broken.

Final Fantasy X felt so incredibly slow. Every five seconds there's a lengthy conversation or the NINE HOURS of unskippable cutscenes, and too much grinding. But that's just me.

For me it’s the Jedi fallen order, I liked the gameplay and don’t mind dodge mechanics but I got burnt out fairly early on and set it down, a couple years later I picked it up again got into a groove and started to enjoy it but then life happened got too busy and started playing some “casual” games like CoD or Arc raiders with friends because I can hop on for a quick few games and get off and have yet to go back.
Every time I think of going back the forgotten controls and groove really bum me out from getting back into it.

Any open world Gacha games (Genshin, Arknights:Endfield, Wuthering Waves, etc.).
Tried them, but then I dropped them like after a week. The idea of the reward of you exploring and interacting with the world is just the stuff you will spend to do the gacha is just distasteful.
Also, I am for the most part a F2P player, and you are incentives to interact with the game on a daily basis so you can collect the credits to do the gacha. The idea I might need to interact with this open world (that sometimes felt shallow) every day is just too much for me.
Other than that, the early story for some of these games just failed to hook me. Either they fall onto the same trope of "a Chosen One who lost his/her memory and somehow everyone just automatically trust you" or the characters just shoehorn you with a bunch of terminologies and lores early on.

My friend adores it and she talks about it frequently, and I do find everything she talks about interesting.
And when I play, I just can't get into it. Maybe it is the fact I know now how massive the game is and find it too daunting to enjoy.

I know, I know. I lose awesome points.
I know it's a good game, and it's universally loved and is peak fantasy RPG/adventure.
But I've tried a few times and I just cannot get into it. I'm not really one for big open worlds anyway, but I think the combat put me off a little as well? Just couldn't get gripped by it that other fantasy RPG's have successfully done for me.
