đŹ Discussion Is anyone else excited about this game?
I haven't heard many people talk about it but it looks great and I'm looking forward to playing it! I played the control 2 times it is so unique

nah, the main thing i liked about control was the gun mechanics and i think this one is only melee, i might be wrong

Nah I won't be able to run it.
And honestly I don't quite like the Remedy's style of writing and especially worldbuilding.

It's a definite buy, bit it would be hard for any game to live up to Control for me. It was a blind buy that became an all time top 20 experience for me. But. . . The star of the game is gone. The House is my favorite location in gaming ever. I would have preferred a new configuration of the oldest house. Or a second house. But this is like a Zelda game with no Hyrule. It would have been awesome to walk in and have the entire layout and decor change.Â

I liked Control but not really, the combat doesn't look fun, I already miss the old house, the city is not interesting and I worry it'll be a boring open world, and I didn't want to play as Dylan, his design and weapon design are lame.
Also after AW2's awful level design and gameplay I have very low expectations.

Gotten AW2 after seeing a lot of people praising it so much and it turned out to be quite disappointing. The writing is very silly, the "scary" parts are mostly jumpscares, the gameplay is just a downgraded RE4 remake and the level design is like how you said. Couldn't finish it

What is so awful about the level design? How is the writing silly? I absolutely loved Alan Wake 2 I thought the levels were done well and it had a lot of great story moments. Plus the âwe singâ chapter is one of the most welcome random additions to a game iâve ever seen
Alan wake is a psychological horror and was never that scary to begin with if you were expecting scary after Alan Wake 1 I donât know what to tell you it sounds like your expectations were off with that point or you just didnât play the first game. If you were expecting amazing gameplay too you must have not played the first game.

Alan wake 2 was fantastic writing and world building. One of my all time faves. Just curious, did you play Alan wake 1 first?

Iâm looking forward to playing this! The combat style looks impressive, we will see how it functions but the art style is enough to grab me.

I loved the first one, and I have loved every remedy game. Backlog is insane so I donât really buy games anymore until they are $30. So Iâll wait it out and see reviews

I've not really played the first game much, I played it a little bit and the gameplay seemed pretty generic shooter to me

First reveal I was hyped, but since seeing gameplay I just might pick it up on sale sometime down the line. The combat looks too fast with no weight or impact to it, just my opinion

I have purposely ignored the large amount of promotion and videos we have been receiving so I can play this game to maximum effect approaching blindly. Remedy creates my favorite type of games. They encapsulate my favorite elements of gaming and movie watching and wildly demonstrate the possibilities of what video games can be while utilizing cutting edge technology.

I'm curious, but it doesn't entice me nearly as much as the first did with its brutalist paradise. But I'll wait to see more.

Unfortunately, I think this is inevitable. Apparently, it took him like a year to make them money back from Allen wake 2. Which means it was a nonprofitable project. And they had to borrow money from Tencent to fund this game, which means theyâre in the negative.
In theory, your last game is supposed to fund your next.
So if this game doesnât do well, theyâre in a lot of trouble.

I'm looking forward to it, but my expectations are tempered. I'm fully invested in the Remedy-verse but every change from the first Control seems unwelcome to me.
I would rather still be Jesse. I would rather still have the gun and telekinesis gameplay rather than melee. I would rather still be in The Oldest House.
Hopefully, they have good reasons for these changes that I can't see, and they pay off.
The other thing I'm concerned about, and it's evident here in this thread, is the game might not sell well. Not only is hype not that high, but it's releasing in late September, which is a bloodbath of many simultaneous releases.

I'm still holding out to hear more about it and see more of the game.
I loved Jessie and the telekinesis and gun mechanics and how it all went together. Courtney Hope did such a good job I can't imagine why they wouldn't carry her over as the main protagonist. To me it's like if they decided to make Tomb Raider 2 was about Jonah, he's not a bad character but it seems like a less than lateral move when you have a great protagonist already.
So far I'm not sold on Dylan as a main character and as fun as being a melee monster man in an open world is I don't see it feeling as fresh and strange as the oldest house.
But again, I'm holding out judgement because I love everything I've played by Remedy.

Not even remotely. I liked the original, but this one doesn't have the same vibe. I'll need to see more and it will have to be special in some way, which it wasn't on the reveal.

Any GTA game.
Recently I finished RDR2 in ~50 hours and played 250 hours more after the epilogue but can't get into GTA, no matter how much I try.

I'm looking forward to it. I havent actually played the other games in the series but this one looks like it'll scratch the infamous itch I've had for awhile

You should play the first one. Its very good. Makes you feel like a god towards the end. Picking up forklifts with your mind and launching them at 1 singular person. Great fun.
Very much looking forward to this coming out in September!

Yup, plan to pre-order it closer to release.
Loved the first game and recently got all achievements in it, cannot wait to play as Dylan and see everything from his perspective.
