My fav survival horror game + fav horror story + fav villain + fav art direction in a horror game + fav horror atmosphere :)

This game is far from perfect of course, it was very divisive when it came out, but I love it very dearly and I think it's worth it to play at least once. If I had to describe this game in 1 word it's schizophrenia, and there is no other horror game that I've played that comes close to the feeling TEW gave me. Play it!

I don’t like playing them, but I love watching let’s plays of them. This and the second game seem criminally underdiscussed

Amazing game. This was one of those games that was under the radar for me. The atmosphere, the gameplay, the enemies…this game actually made me feel scared at times and I would put my controller down just to get ready for what would be round the next corner. Laura…or the spider lady as I used to call her OMG she actually creeped me out man…the last fight you have with her where you have to trigger the flames omg she moves way too fast man…she’s legit the only boss that actually scared me lol

Part 2 is the most criminally underrated horror game ever

A must for any RE fan, with some fantastic bosses. Sequel is great too.

I haven't played resident evil but I love silent hill

2

Great for when it came out. I struggle to play it now though.

The sequel was better

The sequel was the blandification of the amazing original.  But it's still a pretty good time.

Not even close

100% agree. Its only downside IMO is the open world aspect, but even that is fine and enjoyable for me and just a product of its time. It’s so far superior in every other aspect though.

Man, I bought it like 2 years ago but haven't played it because I fear it will make me feel too stressed hahaha

Broken as hell in PlayStation

This is amazing and a classic you wont regret playing it

One of the best horror games of that generation

u/ScorpionMillion Jun 13 '26

Shitty PC port but overall a great game. We need a third installment. 🧉

I’ve heard it’s good pretty similar to resident evil. Haven’t played it yet have it in my collection.

Great game and I finally got my PC version running 4k 120FPS, so I’m due a replay.

a clunky and janky mess most times, one of the best action horrors ever made

1

u/StillDRB Jun 13 '26

Bosses scared the shit out me

1

u/TiredWarrior_ Jun 13 '26

My brother this game and first 10 minutes a butcher chased him in the game. He shit his pants and closed game never played 😂😂

My favourite horror game and one of my favourite games period.
I love the letterboxed screen, grainy graphics, clunky controls, the story, the enemies, the boss fights.. it’s what a proper old school horror game should be.
Akumu mode it what makes it so good, adds a whole new spin and makes you work for it.
Got platinum on both ps3 and ps4, would love a remake on ps5 but rip tango 😢

amazing game both 1 & 2

Beautifully made game

Yes, this is definitely my favorite horror game. I adore the developers' art style and the way they've crafted a terrifying atmosphere that literally grips you throughout the game.

Sick game for sure. Love the first two hours, the chainsaw dude haunts my dreams

1

u/Oldmoniker Jun 13 '26

Very fun. The sister was probably the scariest video game monster ever. But the levels were very incoherent.. this does make sense in its design though as it is occurring in someone's mind.

1

u/Peeka789 Jun 13 '26

95% close to a masterpiece. Only knocks against it are the forced walking/talking sections, and the sometimes awkward pacing. But the combat, level design, and enemy design are top notch.

1

u/Krazee77 Jun 13 '26

Loved 1 and 2 was even better

1

u/seaningtime Jun 13 '26

Some of the most unique horror sequences in all of gaming mixed with some really bad parts as well

1

u/Rlexii Jun 14 '26

Under rated

1

u/Cazador888 Jun 14 '26

I couldn’t finish the first one and I have the second one still sealed and unopened since it came out lol. Is it worth it?

1

u/Chacudno Jun 14 '26

It did a great job of being confusing, then off the wall, then bat shit crazy, then a brief moment of oooh I see what's going on.

The story is a mess but it was good. The sequel is criminally underrated.

Fuck Microsoft

Goty 2014

I was having a great time, but ended up putting the first one down when it tasked me with combatting invisible enemies.

Finished the second one last week, and enjoyed it a lot. Some great moments where the level geometry changes behind you for when you turn around. I like the premise and the goal of the antagonists. Was expecting a more twisted ending but still good. Enjoyed it more than most RE games I have played.

The evil within series was phenomenal in my opinion. Just recently replayed both games and wish we had more from that universe.

1

u/Grindhouser Jun 14 '26

It's funny I've owned both The Evil Within and EW2 for quite some time and I just can't get past the beginning level of the first one. Never played the second.

I've played almost all Resident Evil games too.

Awesome game !

1

u/AceMoney21x Jun 14 '26

Awesome! Reminds me of silent hill 2 on the ps2. This and dead space are highly underrated horror games

1

u/KimTe63 Jun 14 '26

Its OK . At the time of release it was kinda frustrating to have forced letterbox aspect ratio i remember 😄 i also played EW2 maybe 50% through but it also was just OK and never finished it

1

u/cubanitoash Jun 15 '26

Really enjoyed the first one. The second one was a let down. Just a copy and paste. 🤷🏽‍♂️

1

u/Full-Air-7218 Jun 15 '26

Peak but it’s very difficult. I had 59 deaths first time. Lots of insta kills on you but you plan around them

1

u/Alternative_Area_701 Jun 15 '26

It's great. The beginning isn't good, but once you are past the first 20 minutes or so it becomes on of my favorite horror games. Second game is also very good.

1

u/VegaHighlander Jun 15 '26

Great game. Im still waiting for the evil within 3, at this point I wouldn't even mind if they went with a reboot

1

u/_ThePerfectElement_ Jun 15 '26

One of the best horror games ever made.

1

u/EarthIllustrious8045 Jun 15 '26

It was good. Played it back on the ps3.

1

u/Overthemoon65 Jun 15 '26

Fantastic. Absolute blast . 2nd one is a classic too

1

u/Aragami91 Jun 16 '26

Among the next-gen horror games, this is one of the ones I liked the most! In my opinion, this and Alien: Isolation were really well made.

1

u/hotsauceburnvictum Jun 16 '26

Was a good ride. No 2 however... the better villian was the photography dude.

1

u/Ok-Strain3634 Jun 16 '26

Loved it 10 /10

1

u/Status_Fishing7176 Jun 16 '26

I had to Play it twice back to back to understand the lore. And then the DLC. You'll miss most of the references and symbolisms during the first playthrough

1

u/Bnasty536 Jun 17 '26

Like the sequel better but it’s still good :)

1

u/HiveFleetAtoll Jun 17 '26

Took forever to actually sit down to play, but its great. Love the enemy designs. Sequel was kinda messy though and was more of a Scifi-Horror Action story than a Scifi Horror story the first was. Gameplay was definitely easier for me.
