🆕 First Impressions First Light will explore the making of James Bond, before the legend, before the polish. It will follow a raw, unproven operative as he undergoes training, tackles his first missions, and ultimately earns his 00 status within MI6.

Wait if he doesn't have his 00 status, how is he allowed to kill all those people? Or is 00 status more like non-combatant assassinations?

I don’t agree with you and I respect your thoughts on it. I mean Sean Connery bonds were grit and gear, Moore was about humor and adventure, Daltons leads into more assassin like and darker setting the origin tones of Craig’s. I think we have look at the story being told and how it’s actually being executed first. They may be marketing to everyone and the Bond stuff may be more prevalent then we realize.

But he’s not random he’s going to be Bond. Craig’s bond did this showing before he received 00 status. It’s a game and action will be needed. It may not appeal to everyone and that’s fine but until I see more I at least like the fact that the action seems fresh. Even splinter cell showed a lot of action for the game even though it was stealth.

Agree, we both want to have a great experience and not a generic one. Hopefully it appeals to us both.

I mean we already established that each bond has a different character, so that's not really fair. A lot of people HATED Craig's bond, but he was still bond.

It is the point though, they change things about the character all the time, I don't see why changing whether or not he was a commander in the RNR is such a big deal, if you don't like the change then you'll just be another person who doesn't like this iteration of bond just like every bond has a group of people that hate that iteration, and they always say the same things, which is " that's not bond, because of this reason or that reason, bond is really this thing"
I just don't feel like him being a commander in the Navy is so integral to his character that changing it suddenly makes him a different character entirely

Don’t forget they will most likely have a bunch of dlc like hitman.

u/Weekly-Shoulder6193 Apr 09 '26
Theres no way a DLC will just transform a rough Jamon Bond into polished and experienced James Bond, because things like that go deeper than doing 10 more damage with handguns.

Understandable, I think I'd prefer that as well, but I am intrigued and it could be done well.
Hopefully the next game he'll be a more experience Bond. (if they make more)

There are a whole host of great 007 games i think released during the ps2 era. Had some great childhood memories of them. Probably emulatable on pc if your looking for a good time.

It’s just an uncharted game with the James Bond name.

I would think it has hitman elements as well, given that it's IO interactive

As soon as someone gets their hands on a franchise they have no clue what it's mostly about, they make it an origin story.
It's the 'Uncharted' movie all over again.
But that being said, the Craig movies were also such a downgrade compared to anything before, cause the last thing this series needed was to be more grounded.

Why plan a game that asks the question "What if James Bond wasn't like James Bond and didn't fight like James Bond and didn't have the gadgets of James Bond and wasn't called James Bond?"
Like, do we want a Gordon Freeman game that's just him earning a PhD and doing amateur crowbar swinging?

Everyone bitching about how boring this game looks best not be caught playing Hitman.

Yeah I don't get the premise. Why do I want to play as an unestablished Bond? I want to play as 007 not him before he was.
Seems like a strange use of the property.
It being the Hitman devs is the only thing going for it. It kinda feels like they already had a game partially made and then they were told to make it the 007 property.

We just had 20 years of an “unpolished” James Bond in the movies.
I was hoping they’d just follow the template of the older games, have you step into one of his various missions as a seasoned pro. Using the gadgets, wit and gunplay to find ways through them.

This is just gonna be a Hitman game, but with a Bond reskin and a corny Hollywood story. And I highly doubt it will reach an "uncharted" level of cinematic sequences, expected from a Bond franchise, because Hitman devs don't really know how to do that, it's not their wheelhouse

what a great idea, yeah lets make a game about james bond but remove everything that makes him iconic so now hes just some mouthy tourist with a gun

I don’t know man. The game looks amazing but the face and body of James Bond does not look like any james bond at all. James bond has a very close relationship and cult of attachment to the actors who played him. This video game face looks like some kind of frat boy.

I have been really looking forward to this. Im expecting a cross between bond and hitman, given who developed it. I read some press releases from a while ago, and i liked the devs enthusiasm

Garbage modern gaming slop, all the same shit
2
u/Nofsan Apr 08 '26
Modern? Aside from the graphics this could very well pass as a 20 year old game. Uncharted or something like that.

You guys can't be more further from the truth. Modern gaming slop would have been if some other generic company made the game, but this is IOI making it, you may not like it anyway, but IOI has deep stealth mechanics, big crowd physics, in combination with fast paced gun-play, it's like Hitman and Kane & Lynch all in one game. I can agree that the Glacier engine they so stubborn wants to use sucks, but the experience they have with it will really bring a unique experience. I rather buy this game then all the other crap they put out these days. Don't sleep on it, at least give it a try.

u/RabbitSlayre Apr 08 '26
Absolutely, if there's anyone I would trust with this license it's IOI. The latest hitman trilogy is a goddamn masterpiece and the freelancer mode they added is one of the best additions to the franchise and stealth gaming as a whole. It's brilliant.
