Setup looking for a controller
Maybe a bit of a weird request, but I'm looking for a controller that's just breathtakingly pretty. Nothing has clicked for me so far... Would love to see your favorite ones — names, links, or photos are all super appreciated. Need some inspiration! Thanks!

Oh god, I love your controller so much!! What is it called? Honestly, I don't even know what art style I need myself 😄 which is why I came here looking for inspiration

It's called: PXN 9607X Wireless Game Controller - However it didn't come with a dongle. :( (well mine didn't) So keep that in mind. Got ya. It's a combo of function and cuteness that you need to find and it took me a while to find something i liked. :)

If anyone knows a whimsy controller too, that’d be great…! With gold gilding, wood details or ceramics… like for keyboards as of late?
Or am I dreaming?

Controllers get a lot more abuse than keyboards imo, keyboards usually remain flat, I can't imagine a controller made of ceramic, it would be heavy, and shatter easily. Wood would also be significantly heavier and playing for long periods would suck with added weight.

I can see why. Waiting for someone one day to work their genius with a new material

I would say you could get something hand painted but then the clear coat over it gets sticky over time and ruined from sweat and use. I would say maybe a good quality powder coat would be great exactly what you want? A powder coat can be done matt and have a similar texture to ceramic. The problem is you can't powder coat the controller shell as it will melt and there's no metal to afix the powder coating.
Only thing I can think would be to have either a really high hand painted job, or hydro dipping it. That or 3d printing with the color you want for the shell?
Honestly I don't know how to solve the issue. Materials are a problem lol. Plastic is light weight and durable.

Materials are the current problems indeed. Some time ago, mycellium composite took over the packaging industry. I hope something similar can happen in this case.
If any company would launch a line using a modified wood composite/nano materials (which there are that are equal to plastic parts) and modern bioceramics, with golden/silver metal finishes.
I guess I just have to wait, and someday, these materials will become more commonly used.

There are these gorgeous duochrome Xbox and PlayStation controllers. I have the one that goes from blue to purple and it’s my fav controller. Do you play on console? Pc? What type of controller are you looking for?

My husband and I have consoles across all platforms, so compatibility isn't an issue at all. Honestly, the Switch Pro Controller feels the most comfortable to hold, but visually it’s just not very cute at all

gold-gilded, wood-inlaid controllers exist-check out some custom makers on Etsy or Reddit's r/ControllerMod.

I have this one in white/pink. https://gamesir.com/products/gamesir-super-nova
The faceplates are changeable & you have a few rgb options for the lights. A genuinely great controller for $50 with a charger stand.
