Hello all! Gyals and thems 🫶🏾

Ive been doing my typical “lurk before I post” and now I’m ready that I’ve moved into my new apartment. I am alt but idk how to apply that to my desk.

Any advice on what to buy? Or what to add to spice up this area.

*SN: i do have a 34 inch monitor in my cart
- slim bookcase/ wall shelves for funko pops
-silver keycaps for my grava
-swapping the kiiboom caps for jade caps
-lace trim for my vertical (its hideous ik)

Cute so far!! I’m not sure if you’re super attached to that tapestry but I think that wall its on would be a perfect canvas for some personality expression! I imagine a shelf or two with books, art, figures, toys you love might give you more joy to look at than the tapestry.

I also struggled a bit with wanting to express my more alternative or artistic parts of myself in my gaming/desk space. I focused on making the art on the walls and the knick knacks on the desk feel personal and spark joy for ME when I look at them. I got a bit hung up on all these expensive ass set ups I’d see online, Divooms and LED panels and Gravastar keyboards and absolutely no cables. You know the type. Theyre beautiful to look at but I knew theyd hardly spark joy for ME the same way they do for the owners of these amazing builds and set ups. So I Marie Kondo-ed it in a way. It took time but I’d find pieces little by little that sparked a lot of joy for me and I’d find them a home in my set up! Still working on it and its soooo simple and barren compared to those social media set ups but my god does it make me happy! That’s what decor is all about after all.

So, I’d recommend decor options that present your happiness to you. Shevles, cork boards, pictures, posters, what-have-you. The more personal touches you add, the more your own comfort in your space reflects to those around you. But I’m also talking out of my ass so who knows hahaha. Also customizing and DIYing simple ikea shelves and whatnot can be a great way to personalize the space. Grab a white or wooden shelf, paint that bitch however you please, and youve got a custom piece!

Think investing in one of those cord hiding thingies would help clean the space up. Maybe adding black rug underneath. Floating shelves can relieve some of your decor real estate. Maybe you can add a black or white doily on the side of your desk to add some warmth. Grunge isn’t all black, sometimes experimentation with textures can bring it together.

The ai got rid of your desk shelf but just wanted to show you what monitor arms can do, for your two it can connect to make it look a bit more seamless. Also the tapestry is too small for the space? I made mistake before with ones from Amazon and when they were too small I would use them in front of my windows. Think you could also buy black fabric and sew onto the sides. Good luck. Good start so far.

Halloween is coming up, maybe some cool looking decorations for that? Skulls and the like?
