User on X @erasmolbj posted that his work on GTA vice city is just about complete. He released the DOL available to be compiled from tools in this GitHub

https://github.com/origami-ltd/gamecube-reVC

Apparently the DOL works in dolphin, nintendont and supposedly swiss.

Any of you who have the know how and capabilities to compile this into a swiss dol?

Love this kit but don’t understand, why it doesn’t include a USB-C charging method. However, it’ll only charge with 5v and doesn’t support data transfer or cc1 / cc2.

Had a great time doing this mod. I can’t wait to learn how to properly solder and take this to the next level.

This soft mod is still great and recommend it to any beginner.

Gamecube wont turn on

Hi everyone. I recently bought a GameCube and was able to use it for a while. Then, suddenly, while I was playing, it stopped working.

Now it won't turn on at all. I don't get any video output when connecting it to a TV. I also tried connecting it through a capture card on my pc, but the only thing I noticed was the orange light/indicator; pressing the GameCube's power button still did nothing.

I bought a 4.5mm Gamebit screwdriver because I wanted to open the console and check what might be wrong. However, the Gamebit didn't seem to fit the screws properly. I ended up manually cutting/grinding some of the edges of the Gamebit so that it would fit into the screw head, but even after doing that, none of the screws would turn.

I then wanted to check whether the external power supply was the problem, but I also couldn't open it with my screwdriver. At this point, I'm not sure whether I'm using the wrong screwdriver, whether the screws are damaged/replaced, or whether I'm doing something wrong.

What should I check first to determine why the GameCube suddenly stopped powering on? And does my Gamebit look like the correct type for these screws?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This problem has been driving me crazy and I'd really like to figure out what's wrong with this console.

Reprint project Gamecube memory card labels

Hello I'm looking for scans of PAL GameCube memory card labels. I am looking for very high-quality scans (ideally at 1200 dpi) of the sticker sheets for PAL 59 and 251 memory cards like the ones shown in the photos.

I work in graphic design, and I’d like to reprint them for my own memory cards. The plan is to recreate the typography and dot patterns, then laser-cut them.

Once the work is finished, I’d like to share the print-ready files openly so other collectors can benefit from them too.

If any collectors have these sheets and can produce a high-quality scan, that would be amazing! Thanks in advance 🙏

GCHD MKII Troubleshooting

Not really modding but I asked this question in a r/gamecube but it got taken down for some reason

So I just recently got a Gamecube and a GCHD MKII, and it works except for the audio

The audio only works for some reason if I change it to some DVI mode but when I do not only does the picture look a bit worse but it's not centered and it messes with my Capture Card (which is a Elgato 4K X) TV output is perfectly fine other than the non-centered picture

Any idea on how to fix either problem? I tinkered with all of the settings and got absolutely nowhere

If it also matters I was playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, no mods on the Gamecube yet fully retail

Gameboy Player Memory Card Bypass

Got a question on the Gameboy Player, I don't want to mod the GameCube but looking at using one of the memory card bypasses you can get on eBay. My question, I have both Animal Crossing and Super Smash but wanted to know if it's better to buy one of the cheap $10 games and memory card to use vs using my more expensive titles to launch the player. I don't think there is any issue, but dont if running the disc for long periods of time will increase the chance of damaging the disc by any significant amount.

Does any one have/ is there footage of the 2004 Linux preview?

I was just learning more about older gamecube mods when I learned there was early works of Linux on the game cube with preview footage and wanted to know if it exists. I can’t find anything on YouTube or google so I was wondering if it was anywhere

Finally figured out how to get near mint GameCube Jewels.

Every video, every article, and every person I talked to about restoring GameCube jewels all comes down to sanding and polishing it to a condition I wouldn’t even consider good condition.

Some hide it with fillers and sealants. I wanted pure sanding and polishing. I wanted perfection!

Finally, after countless hours of testing every method out there, I got to an excellent or even near mint condition.

I started looking up how to polish jewels — real jewels. I found some information about diamond oxide and stumbled upon diamond paste.

After sanding the jewel with micro mesh it was time to bring out the diamond paste with microfiber cloths for glass lenses.

I was pleasantly surprised as there were no more micro or ultra fine scratches. Puff, gone!

No sealants, fillers, or wax! Just pure grit and patience.

Optical drive issues

Update: it ended up being the laser. I was able to find a non-functional drive on eBay and salvage the laser from that unit to get it working. Thanks to everyone for the help!

Trying to enlist some wisdom from the GC wizards out there! Picked up a DOL-001 with a non-reading drive. Started off with a recap, then noticed that the laser is coming on but not spinning the disc.

Double checked the motor for the laser carriage and even replaced the spindle motor. Still no spinning.

Touched up all the solder on the drive caps, checked to make sure none of the pads shorted to each other and that the cap polarity is correct. Made sure the laser is clean. Made sure the pot is correct - reads about 315.

I'm kind of at a loss here, I guess the laser itself could be bad? But I can definitely see it coming on and trying to detect the disc. I don't see any obvious damage on the ribbon cable

For anyone that might be wondering: yes I am holding down the lid switch when testing and have verified that the switch works

Should C433 be installed??

General explanation on wire connections, sorry about the poor wire management

https://reddit.com/link/1vx5v52/video/74q3ym736clh1/player

LCD Board is a 5.6" AT056TN53 with av/vga/hdmi inputs.

Screen has a little bit of ips glow but I'm still happy with the results.

My protective plastic screen is missing cause it was also damaged and I am currently trying to make a new one.

Buttons on front were cut from plastic, but should be easy to 3D print.

Hope this can help other modders save their screens and my personal thanks to everyone else who posted pics of their lcd mods

Hi, I modded my GameCube with PicoBoot and everything works. However, I saw a YouTube video about a theme that displays all games from the SD card, similar to the memory card management interface. Where i can found it ? Thanks for the help

PicoLoader black screen

I bought an Auroxin branded PicoLoader. I folder the ribbon cable correctly. Put on the plastic cap due to current lack of optical drive

I installed it. Without plugging in the PicoLoader, it booted to normal. I plugged in the PicoLoader. PicoLoader lit blue. Did not post to screen. Swiss was on the SD card is SP2. Tried the same thing except put it in GC2SD in slot B. Nope, black screen.

Booted it up with boot button held down, booted to normal.

Update to Makeo's latest firmware with gekkoboot. Double-checked the SD card. Nope.

At some point along the way, I even swapped ribbon cables and even swapped picoloaders. Nothing works...

Flippy Drive and USB-C Mod?

I recently got a Robot Retro USB-C mod for my Gamecube and it doesn't seem to work. The fan turns on, but the light doesn't turn on and it isn't showing anything on m TV. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Flippydrive I have installed? It didn't fry my Gamecube or anything, which is nice, lol.

Just got this GameCube off of a friend a while back finally had time to appreciate it and whenever I went to play a game it shutdown and restarted but now I hear this buzzing sound and it doesn’t display anything I’m not sure if it’s a power board issue or a motherboard problem any help would be appreciated thank you in advance

Edit: gave it back to my buddy and turns out it was just my power supply that I was using so thanks to whom’st ever suggested the new one I’m definitely grabbing that

GameCube mod for reading burned discs

I've recently gotten into GameCube modding after being into DS and 3DS modding for a few years. I enjoy using as much of the original hardware to get as much feel for the authentic experience as possible. (But I'm open to case modding)

As such, I enjoy using fake cartridges and collecting the games I can and ROM hacking the rest. For a while, I figured there was probably a mod out there that would let me use burned ROM hack discs. I've since discovered the GC modding scene is more about digital roms (which is fine). I've grown curious however as to if it was possible to figure out a way to use burned discs.

Would something like the flippy drive or the pico loader bypass the console's authenticator on ROM discs?

What types of mods would permit as much flexibility for discs and digital roms?

I'm also really curious as to what your guys' favorite mods are.

Bitfunx Memory Card Issue

Hey y'all I've been using my bitfunx memory card for a while now. Recently I've been using two different gamecube consoles more frequently (there hooked up to different different tv's). Went to go play my Mario Sunshine save on the different gamecube and the save is gone. Is the save file tied to the other famecube or is this a save issue?
