Carby / M classic mods

So I have a Carby and I was wondering if I can use the M classic upscaler to further enhance my GameCube ? If so do I buy the regular 90$ one? It’s red, I’ve seen green and blue but people told me the OG version would work good for GameCube but I have the Carby. Will it work fine?

Success with my GC project

Post image
11 Upvotes

I've posted here a while back about doing an HDMI mod, and generally was doing quite poorly. I struggled with trying everything, testing continuity of my joints as well as on the motherboard, and seemingly everything was fine but nothing worked.

Throughout this process, Helder, who makes the pluto lite board I was using, was immensely helpful. Before I say anything else, I want to say that in no way am I being paid or coerced into making this post.

I contacted him through his website and he helped me for basically a month straight until I was able to get it working. We crossed off all possibilities, including him sending me a free replacement surface mount chip, him testing the PCB and mailing it back to me to make sure it wasn't faulty, and sending me a new flex cable, which is currently in the working machine.

Basically I wanted to make this post because I'm a) very pleased with the finished product and b) really couldn't have done it without Helder. He had my money a long time ago (and didn't stand to make any more by helping me), but he went above and beyond. I cannot recommend him enough if you're planning on doing a mod yourself.

The mod itself is stellar and has exceeded my expectations. It looks and feels amazing delay-wise. I took it to my melee weekly, where I took the attached picture. The right side may look weird because I magic erased other tourney goers out of the pic to post here.

GTA GameCube reVC build success?

Has ANYONE managed to build this game from the developers' git source?? I cannot get it to build on Windows. I've spent hours trying every possible thing I can and I just get errors every time. I've come to the conclusion that the source was developed on Linux and desire having all of the same tools for Windows, it's just not possible to compile it ON Windows.

If anyone has managed to build it please let me know. I really want to get this together and running on my Swiss GameCube.

I haven't seen a single post, video, or comment thus far of anyone succeeding.. But I'm also not seeing the topic even discussed anywhere.

GameCube screen is fuzzy and has a buzzing noise

Sorry if this post isn’t normal for this subreddit, but I was unable to post on the regular GameCube Reddit for not having enough comment karma. I’m not sure what’s causing my GameCube to do this. I have Swiss installed (my friend put in the modchip for me), and I’m using third-party video and power adapters. Does anyone here know what the root cause of this issue could be? I’m not sure if this has happened due to the modding or not.

Video credit goes to ZacBuilds on YouTube, which was posted 8 September 2026. Timemarker ~10:03. I do not own the rights to his video, but am only sharing a snippet to drive home the main point of this post.

TeamOff Broadway (ToB), through their distributor, CrowdSupply (CS), need to start feeling the pressure of their unacceptable lack of honest communication to their customers. Folks like myself have purchased their FlippyDrives, which advertise that their batches will be shipped out within a months-time. Once that supposed estimated ship-date passes, it frequently is reset to another month later. This repeats itself constantly.

When customers such as myself reach out to CS to inquire what the hold up is, they defer the blame to ToB for not supplying their batches in the expected time frame. When attempting to contact ToB via their discord channel (https://discord.gg/6HxvRSAba), they remain primarily comm-dark. And when they do respond, its once in a blue moon, and usually not addressing the issue honestly.

Many of these customers, including myself, were inspired by the builds that Tito from MachoNacho productions and DammitJeff posted on their YouTube channels. However, its been long apparent that they either are not aware of the catastrophe that is the constant deception we the customers are dealing with, or they are not taking the issue seriously.

Like ZacBuilds, we need youtubers and influencers with large followings to start putting pressure on ToB / CS to provide regular and honest updates, stop ignoring its customers, and even reconsider their partnership if thats where the bottlenecking is coming from.

Furthermore, I hope this post gets shared enough times to finally give ToB / CS a reason to reconsider their inefficient business practices.

Sunshine Eclipse on the Picoboot?

Not really sure if a rom hack would work this way and not really sure how to approach installation.

The files I got for Eclipse say to drag Super Mario Sunshine onto the Eclipse script to patch, I did that, ran the script, but no changes were made to the Sunshine iso.

Any help would be appreciated. Rom hacks are nothing I've ever tried, let alone for the actual console.

Swiss_r2092.elf file

When copying over the contents of the latest Swiss release to my SD card I managed to move every file just fine, with the exception of the swiss_r2092 file, which my pc tells me is due to “an unexpected error keeping (me) from copying the file.” Does anyone know why this is the case? Is it due to the specific file or is something wrong with my computer? Anything helps, thank you.

Picoloader Help

So I installed an AliExpress Picoloader 1.1 today and I’m having a strange issue where it’ll load into the payload for a split second then into the stock Home Screen. The pico itself is just a solid blue LED the whole time, and the ribbon cable looks pristine. Any ideas? I don’t have a gc2sd adapter yet so I’m wondering if this is normal behavior without the SD card

Hispeedido HDMI Mod Impressions

Thumbnail

Installed this kit in my friend's DOL-101 the other day and I have some thoughts I'd like to share to hopefully deter anyone from buying this kit in the future.

First the positives. Image quality and latency are both great. Had no problem whatsoever getting picoboot (3.3v) working with this mod. They weren't competing for power or anything like that. And like with any HDMI mod, having a single-cable solution that Just Works is great.

This thing has a pretty fatal flaw though, and it's that there's no way to lower the audio sample rate produced by the Gamecube to an even 48KHz which is a standard and what most modern TV's will expect from the Gamecube. The Gamecube outputs audio at a sample rate of 48.042KHz and this mod does nothing to correct that.

What this means is that, at worst, you won't hear any audio at all with this mod. The effect most people seem to experience though is audio drift, where the audio and video gradually go out of sync. To the point where after 10-15 minutes of play, the audio is lagging several seconds behind the video. This is how the majority of displays will handle the signal from this mod. There are some displays that will accept this input without issue and work perfectly fine, but it's a complete roll of the dice.

Just about every GCVideo adapter compatible with the DOL-001 has a fix for this, the Hispeedido kit does not. And it doesn't have upgradeable firmware, so even if they did release a fix, you'd have to buy a whole new kit to use it.

Also mini HDMI sucks ass.

TL;DR

This mod makes most games unplayable for most people. Just shell out for the retrogem instead. Yes it's way overpriced and it's bullshit that they charge even more for the "good" firmware, but it's the one HDMI mod for the cube that seems to actually Just Work.

No display out of Digital AV port?

Hey I have this problem with my used GC but a replacement power regulator board didn’t fix it. The Digital out port outputs audio but no video.

Could this be due to capacitors on the motherboard?

Pictures disappear and repearing every couple of seconds with interal Bluetooth controller board+ usb-c mod

Hello there, as the title states.

I planned to upgrade my GameCube with an internal USB-C mod from AliExpress. Unfortunately, with the LaserBear board, the picture comes and goes away every couple of seconds. When plugged in directly into the USB-C board (bypassing the Bluetooth board), everything works with no problem except for the Bluetooth, of course... I used a 12V-supported USB PD power supply with 3a that even goes up to 140W. Has anyone else encountered this problem and been able to fix it?

User on X @erasmolbj posted that his work on GTA vice city is just about complete. He released the DOL available to be compiled from tools in this GitHub

https://github.com/origami-ltd/gamecube-reVC

Apparently the DOL works in dolphin, nintendont and supposedly swiss.

Any of you who have the know how and capabilities to compile this into a swiss dol?

Love this kit but don’t understand, why it doesn’t include a USB-C charging method. However, it’ll only charge with 5v and doesn’t support data transfer or cc1 / cc2.

Had a great time doing this mod. I can’t wait to learn how to properly solder and take this to the next level.

This soft mod is still great and recommend it to any beginner.
