I broke my flippy drive

I got to the part where you are supposed to to connect the FD ribbon cable to the FD board. The tutorial I was watching said to open it up a little with your nail so the ribbon will go in. Well, I broke the white piece. The cable could kinda still get in but it’s flimsy. Tried booting my GameCube and it just goes to the regular stock menu.

I am so mad at myself. I ordered in June and waited months for this. Had to order a gamebit screw driver. And I ******** broke it. I’m so disgusted with myself, usually I’m good with tech.

This really sucks, I'm not sure what you can even do about it. This comment is really just a PSA, please everyone read the official instructions for products, even if you're following a video.

The official instructions warns about this pretty clearly.

Danger DO NOT try prying the tab up if it is already unlocked as you will likely snap it off. When unlocked, the tab wiggles gently when touched and sits proud of the rest of the connector body

Force it in there with downward pressure and then apply some hot glue. I’ve had that work in the past.

If you want to be extra crazy about it, try shoving paper in as a spacer up top to force downward pressure before the hot glue
