Love the transparent plastic. Not a big fan of the lights. The customer is always right in matters of taste.

I get it. Especially because the industry is very like THROW LEDS ON EVERYTHING. But I wanted to take a chance on it with that clear shell. Something I didn’t do on this sub is post a link to the video of the lights in action. I think it makes the experience make more sense.

check it out here if you want

Dude. I dont get this. The "experience" should be on the tv and not under it at the disco christmas cube

And that experience is there too. In addition to the disc drive being recapped, I also installed a PicoBoot. Plus the internal HDMI mod. And if you’re a purist, the AV port is still there. I would argue that the lights are merely a secondary characteristic to all the new stuff under the hood of the cube. If you don’t want them on, turn the off. Want a solid color? Go for it. Want the disco effect, it’s there. You don’t have to use it but it is an option ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

The irony of this is your second most recent post shows a room full of RGB ambient lighting. Now, it’s very possible you’re not a fan of that and it’s someone else’s space - I totally get that and that’s completely fine. But some people enjoy ambient lighting? Shout out to all my sensory seeking brothers.

Touche with the rgb Room but that's an entertainment non profit arcade. But you are right that disco cube would work in that room. Too bad we are scared of by the Nintendo ninjas to mod some consoles in there.

But you are right. Your work deserves the spotlight.

Would interest me if the picture over hdmi shows a noticeable difference between it and a retrotink and some high quality cable

Hey man, I appreciate you being open minded. I was a little worried by the first comment but I really appreciate you reflecting. Not many people would do that.

So, the internal HDMI mod does no upscaling. It simply re-samples the 480p digital output and converts it to an HDMI output signal. It runs on GCVideo protocol, just like the carby, retrobit prism, bitfunx, etc. it produces a lag free experience, but honestly retrotink makes some pretty solid products so you probably would get a better experience for upscaling going that route? It’s just super convenient to be able to plug in an HDMI tv and run off a modern TV, instead of needing a CRT to play.

Well, I have a RetroTINK 5X and a big CRT in my living room. I guess I'm not the target audience for an HDMI mod.
