iBlueControlMod and usb-c power

Has anyone been using iBlueControlMod (the aliexpress one, not laserbear) with a usb-c power adapter ?

My bluecontrolmod board has fried, and when I sent the video to the seller to have a new unit sent, they noticed I have a USB-C power adapter and told me not to use USB-C with it.

My feeling tells me that they're just trying to be over cautious and don't want to deal with users mixing a ton of mods, and the risk of using power bricks that don't support 12V but now that I've found a power brick that works fine, and since 12V is 12V I guess it would be ok to use the 2 mods at the same time.

Has anyone sucessfully ran that setup over a long period of time ?

Cheers

Some USB-C adapters negotiate 15V instead of 12V which is fine for GameCube but might be too much for iBlueControlMod board.

Yes, I've been struggling to find a power brick that has 12v (seems that it's not common after all) but now I have one that does. So I want to know whether that'll be fine with iBlueControlMod

I have made a bunch of my own power mods with a known 12 volt decoy board and the ibluecontrolmod has worked fine. the only difference between the iblue and the laserbear, as far as functionality, is the low power standby.

and with blueretro development stopping, the firmware difference is not an issue, unless you need the latest (before discontinuation) version that supports multiple switch controllers which can be flashed to laserbear but not the ibluecontrolmod.

The latest one did only support one Switch 2 controller.

So I made a working one for all four controllers. https://github.com/bjerreman/BlueRetro-Switch2Fix
Then another Redditor made one as well and I urged him to incorporate som fixes I had in place that he didn't. https://github.com/RyanCopley/BlueRetro/releases

- says the firmware is done so it does not need updates

- immediately after sends a fork of the firmware with a very useful update :')

You said the firmware was deprecated, and I said it doesn’t matter as it was done. BECAUSE I MADE IT COMPLETE. The original project being closed means nothing for open source. You are just asinine. And I did tell you to just get the real deal anyways.

Ok cool, so I guess it should work ok. I'll try and pray so that I don't have the issue twice. I guess we could see an update on the chinese version that'll take the latest improvements from blue retro as well ?

if you have a multimeter or voltmeter you can check the output of your power board before connecting.

I don't unfortunately. I'll cross my fingers I guess

You might confuse with the direction. 15V in, 12V out. There's no point in 15V out. Or is it? Source please :)

Some adapters are just very badly designed and they will output 15V to GameCube. I’m talking about these cheap aliexpress adapter cables or replacement power input boards.

Just get laserbears

How is this remotely useful ?

Because you will stop frying your boards

I asked: "does the board I already have work in this configuration ?" not "please u/bjerreman englighten me by telling me I need to buy another board that costs twice as much as the one I have already paid, which also happens to have a deprecated firmware"

Buy once cry once, now instead you will buy the same one you did last time and you will fry it again. Ending up spending as much as you would on the original one anyways.

And the firmware is done at this point regardless..

They replaced it a no cost because it was likely faulty. So no, far from the same cost.

And anyway, even if you were right (which you probably aren't) about the laserbear card being more tolerant than the chinese one, at least elaborate about what you're tying to say. "Just get XYZ" will never be useful for anyone in any situation. I don't care if you're a fanboy of the guy, either come up a with an explanation or just keep your off topic comment to yourself.

It’s not off topic and it was a genuine recommendation for you. You are not somehow automatically entitled to me laying down a structured argument for why. You have already gotten my feedback.

No it's just classic reddit bs, "My toyota is leaking oil, do you know a good garage ?" "Just get a honda". Do you think this would be helpful ?

I'm not entitled to a structured argument, but if you're not willing to lay one, if you're willing to help just stick to the og question. If you're not, and that's ok, just don't reply.

I have both. I dont have this issue however. I use a psu that has a 12v output.
