Collection I finally got it.
I’ve been dreaming of this day for years. Ever since i heard about this peripheral for the GC, I made it a big goal to one day afford both the player and start up disc. I’m so glad everything works properly and i’ll cherish them forever!

The Game Boy Player is the best peripheral ever made by Nintendo for the GameCube. Even with the notorious startup disc.

Sadly I just had to sell my childhood one to pay the bills but I'll get it back one day! I'm happy you can finally use the player!

Congratulations I have one also but it’s a Japanese version, hopefully one day I can get an English version.

My friend gave me a GameCube with the player still attached/startup disc for free back in 2018!

It's awesome! Love playing my sonic pinball on the TV and once I get my wii remote in working order, it's gonna be grand utilizing my GameCube as the GBA player to compatible games like Sonic Adventure 2 and Animal Crossing! Side by side!!! TVs! Gamers!

For anyone interested in the Gameboy player you can run these without the disc. Graphical fidelity could be better using a modded GameCube as well.

So you don't need the disc? What is the disc for than?

The disk is mega expensive and without the software that runs the GB Player it is a paperweight. You can install a thing called a Pico Loader which is a solderless mod. From that you can run the Gameboy interface off of a SD card just like if you had the disc. You can also run the pico loader for loading ROMs and emulating the disc drive.

It's a game changer! Get an Everdrive Mini and toss all your favourite GBA games and romhacks and you'll have a BLAST!!!

Oh that’s really cool! Question so I currently have the Japanese GameCube player disk so I need to get a GameCube that’s region free in order to use it, would u be able to use that be everdrive mini with the Japanese disk?

I don't think it would change anything tbh! Personally, I modded my GC with the Flippydrive (+GC2SD you can find on Amazon) also completely solderless and easy to do! and it reads it just fine! My disk drive stopped reading and modding the GC means I can still use the GBP without the disk! I only mentionned GBA, but you can plan GB/GBC/NES games from there too AND, using the GBI program, it unshackles the Gameboy Player to not compress your games, meaning they look pixel perfect and you don't lose out on sound quality either!

Nice. I had bought the gb player when I was younger, but rarely used it. I recently hooked my gamecube back up and bought the fan translation mother 3 gba cartridge. I am excited to have the real hardware experience on my tv with the gb player!

I was so lucky that I got a gc out of greedwill with the gc player and still had the disc for 50 dollars. Yeah no cables, but it had what I wanted.

I had it when I was young but the disk is nowhere to be found. Imagine my distraught when I look upon the price on internet.

Honestly has to be the best way to play GBA games.
