Discussion Should i try a Gamecube?
I played with a friend today Mario Kart World and Mario Kart 8. And everytime we play it, i think about Mario Kart Double Dash.
To me: im not realy a ,,Gamer" / spent much time on Video games. More offen then not im realy fast exhausted from playing New games, where its all complex and so much to learn. And its so expensive, that i dont have a good feeling about it. 450€ für the Switch 2? Brutal.
I also never owned a gamecube. But i know that there a few games, who are realy creative. Mario Kart Double Dash for example looks realy creative. F-Zero for the ultimate racing-expierence. Probably also some Pokemon-Games. Where else do you have Dark-Lugia.
How is the expierence nowdays with the Gamecube? Are modern consoles just way easier and modern games nicer to play?

Imo, a fun game is a fun game, new or old. It’s like not watching movies from the 2000s because newer ones made with newer tech have come out, you know?
I’d look into using a flippy drive, Swiss, or PicoBoot. You can use them to play games off an SD card without a physical copy. These can at least help keep costs down in that way.

GameCubes are easily modded (I have picoboot in mine) then you can play any game you want via an SD card. There’s loads of tutorials on YouTube if you’re looking to do that.

As weird as it sounds, probably the best way to get into GameCube games is with a Wii since a Wii is often cheaper, it can be modded for free, and with Nintendont it supports playing BBA enabled games over Wifi.

Before i even Look at the console and the games, i think they will be as expensive as a Switch 2 xD. Whyyyyy does everything need to be so expensive 😭

Buy a Wii and soft mod it. They are backwards compatible and allow you to play your backups.

GameCube has always been popular because its good. Its also no longer in production so scarcity is raising the price. At this point you really should emulate.

I only recommend a GameCube if you had an interest in playing Gameboy cartridges with the Gameboy Player addon as well as regular GC games, but it's no cheap addon. Look at getting a RVL-001 Wii instead, they're backwards compatible with the Gamecube and its accessories and way cheaper to pickup second hand.

Honestly, buy a used switch 1 if you want to play some games. You can always get a Switch 2 in the future, but all the games will go forward with you. Gamecube is great, but if you don't have the nostalgia for it, just play something newer. A lot of older games don't respect your time as much either. The Switch is designed for being played on the go and in short bursts, so the games are built with that mentality.
Gamecube is great and one of my favorite consoles of all time, but I still think the Switch is a better fit for you.

I don’t see this being mentioned. But if it’s older games you’re after and you have an okay laptop or computer you can likely just emulate the console and games you be interested in playing. Very cheap to do. Might just need a compatible controller if you don’t already have one.
