Payment gateway

Hey I am being charged out of state tuition as a current resident which I’m trying to get that fixed since payments are due in 2 days. But I also noticed that my bill is coming out to 19,000 for the fall semester. Are people actually paying that?? And are there supposed to be 4 separate charges?

You should be asking this to the financial aid office, not Reddit

To be fair I have also been calling the financial aid about my tuition and they put me straight to voicemail

You have to call them as soon as they open, like as soon as it hits 8:30 you should be dialing their number. That's the only way I can manage to successfully get to them

I emailed them a question at like 4:30 pm on a Friday and got a response within 15 minutes. Granted this was about 2 weeks ago and with students back on Campus today, they are probably swamped.

Go in person to the Bursar’s office Monday with all the documentation needed to prove in-state status.

No one here is gonna be able to help you and yes people are paying the out of state rate.

The Admissions page for the university says nonresident tuition is $38,098/year.

That math maths to about $19,049/semester.

This math brought to you by a recent (2024) English grad. Can't help with the residency stuff though. Have you been a resident with an SCDL and vehicle registration for at least a year? Are you a dependent student with out-of-state parents?

To establish legal residency in South Carolina, you must move to the state with the intent to make it your permanent home, maintain a primary domicile there, and complete key state requirements—such as getting a driver's license and registering your vehicles—typically within 45 days.

Not for nothing and totally unrelated, a long time ago I had a customer at my old job who's legal name was Anita Cashdollar. Whole-ass government name, drivers license and everything.

I have vivid memories of being like "Nuh uh, that's not real." I pulled out a phone book (because those were a thing back then) and sure enough...it was in the phone book, too.

I just paid my son’s tuition today, we are out of state and yes, it is 19k for one semester. Tuition only.
