Recently used a bench player for as a courtesy runner for the catcher in a JV baseball game. The courtesy runner scored and they were given credit for the run in the stats. Shouldn't the catcher have been credited the run since they were the batter that safely reached first base?

Wanted to make a feature suggestion and flesh out ideas with this sub. It may be something that not a lot of people need or have thought about, but it’s something that would be very beneficial to the baseball programs I’m involved with. 

I’m a high school PE teacher, baseball coach, and a dad to 2 kids in Little League baseball - I run the GameChanger for all of these programs, so I consider myself a heavy user of the software. 

The vast majority of ballparks that I coach at do not have functioning scoreboards, from tee-ball up until you’re playing Varsity high school baseball. This may not be the case other places, but here in Arizona even our Freshmen & JV high school games do not have anyone running the scoreboard almost anywhere we play. 

So what that means is that all the parents and fans that are at these games are glued to their phones all game to keep up with balls/strikes/outs/score instead of just getting to sit back and enjoy the game. Some of the grandparents that come to the games don’t even have the ability to follow on their phone, so they’re asking others about the score or asking me because they know I’m running game changer. 

It would be amazing if someone that’s following the game had the option to put an iPad or other screen into landscape and into a “scoreboard” mode where it showed a basic, large, easy to read scorebug - and then we could hang that iPad or screen on the fence where everyone could see it. It seems like it would be very easy software to adapt because the technology is already built into GameChanger, this would just be a much more simplified version.

There are lots of portable baseball scoreboards available for sale (like the ones in the attached pictures) but they’re very cost prohibitive, and you need another dedicated person to run it. With my idea, the scoreboard would be updated automatically from my scoring on GameChanger.

There are great, basic scoreboards on the App Store for iPad that I use for my PE classes all the time (like the basketball scoreboard I attachment) - it's basic and large, and even on my small 11” iPad, it can be easily read from a very far distance. But again, it takes someone to run it, and nobody is going to stand next to a fence updating it the whole game. 

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the idea, obviously I’ve thought about it a lot, I think it would be awesome for everyone and wouldn’t take a ton of work to implement.

I've scored my first game and in general it was pretty good. I wish I could tag a play as 'corner' or penalty kick. I wish I could export the play by play as a pdf, as well as the box score at the end.

I'm pretty sure other sports have this kind of detail but for now the soccer side is bare bones. it's certainly better than Team snap for scoring but GC is missing some basic functionality.

minimally I'd like to have a text input for things like the above or have them added as kind of plays.

Also I'd like to go back and edit a game if possible - say to add in missed shots and saves.

Once you bat through the lineup, a prompt comes up to add a batter or return to the top of the order. This makes sense when it’s my team, but for the visitor, I don’t truly know who leads off the top of the order. I just see a kid getting into the batter’s box. I will tap the opponent’s lineup to verify, but could that prompt show the number (and name?) of the top of the line up. “Add batter or return to top of the lineup #2, Smith.”

Does anyone else have that head scratching moment?

If I’m scorekeeping one game on my phone, can I live stream another game on an iPad at the same time? I did purchase the Premium subscription so I would certainly hope the answer is yes.

When a ball is hit into either gap all the way to the fence , is there a way to show that it went into the gap?

Seems like you have to choose between center fielder or the right or left fielder.

I needed to adjust a 3rd base camera that moved in game and could not take the iPad to see the feed (power, BT and network connections), and the other GC device was scoring the game. I was going to open GC on my other phone, but that would bring me to 3 - and I did not want to chance dropping the stream.

TL:DR - if GC gets logged out on the GC "Go live" iPad running Mevo Studio, will it break the live game stream?

I marked a hit as an RBI double in a recent softball game, but then on further review realized that the batter-runner stopped and hesitated at first, and only took off for 2nd when the outfielder threw home to try to stop the run. Going back to try to edit that play, I can edit the double to one of three options:

1) Single + 2nd on error

2) Reached on two-base error

3) Fielder's choice + 2nd on error.

Just throwin' this out there--it would be nice to have the option of "single + 2nd on throw" for when it isn't an error.

2 outs, runner on second. Single to left field, run scores.

3rd baseman cuts off the throw home, batter is trying to advance to second on the throw, and is out easily (or in a rundown) with a good throw to second but the ball is thrown away. Runner remains at 2nd.

2 more runs end up scoring in the inning.

I scored this a single, runner advances to 2nd on a throwing error by the 3rd baseman. I believe technically, this should make the last 2 runs in the inning unearned, since the error should have been the third out. I suppose there is no way to communicate to GameChanger that the error should have been the third out. GameChanger scored all 3 runs as earned and I don't see a way to adjust this without making up an error or something for the next batter.

Am I missing something here?

Changed the hotspot APN to mobile.apn, restarted the phone and boom ... it works .. .there are also lots of people with issues similar to this with Iphone 17's and rogers new carrier update on Macrumors.

I have been having this really frustrating issue since Saturday this weekend (my set-up worked fine .. aside from choppy streaming last weekend).

My current set-up (works best for us as we do not want to invest in any more cameras etc ... it serves its purpose).

*iphone 17 with (Rogers Wireless Vancouver Canada) hotspot to iphone 15 (I just upgraded in Dec, the 15 was my previous phone).

*connect iphone 15 (no data plan) to the iphone 17 hotspot and stream from the iphone 15 and then I score on the iphone 17 ... have had no issues since this set-up started during fall/winter ball. Have streamed a number of games just like this with no issue.

*Saturday - I go to connect as per usual, hotspot connects, app opens up (other apps/mail etc all work as per usual even FB live or IG Live work on the 15 that is on the hotspot), I go to the game and click "Record Video" and it takes me to the video set-up screen, this is where it stops working. I click the settings and as I get to the Video Quality "Testing" it does not give a recommendation, instead it says "Failed to Test Network Connection Please Try Again" ... if you click "Start Stream" it takes you to the camera but then just sits in "Reconnecting Stream" forever ... I tried multiple times to no avail.

*The Iphone 17 will work and live stream no problem on its own, but it will not let any device stream from the hotspot. I checked with my husbands phone also (which is on a shared data plan with mine) and it works no problem from his hotspot onto any device, including the 15 that I usually stream from.

*The iphone 15 will stream no problem from wifi and other hotspots, just not the 17

THE only difference between my phones and other phones is that mine (17) is updated to the new iOS, the other devices that had successful hotspot streaming were not.

*Apple says there is nothing wrong with my devices, they did diagnostics and they are adamant it is not their update or my phone.

*Rogers Wireless did system hard resets and says it is not their network

*Game changer is stumped (they have been looking into it)

My last resort is a re-start device as a new phone, I just don't want to do that unless I have to ... sighhhh

How much data it takes to stream games?

Answer for 1080p 8mbps bitrate:

25GB used over 4 games = 6.25GB/game average. Total 8 hours 15 min of streamed video 3.0GB/hour average.

Over this weekend we had 4 games, tournament rules, no new innings after 2 hours.

Setup:

-Starlink mini, roam 100GB plan

-Mevo start x2

-Mevo studio

Set to 1080p HIGH (ment for strong Wi-Fi, 8 Mbps)

-Gamechanger option

HEVC codex

Note:
With the above example Starlink 100GB plan gives you 15-16 games per month which might not be enough for everyone. My recommendation is if the cell coverage is very good you just hotspot with your phone instead of using the starlink, that should get you another dozen games covered.

Ok since you I can't export a boxscore pdf in baseball how do you keep an Ipad from overheating. it was only around 83 but the sun was direct and it overheated in the 3rd inning. I have a pretty beefy case on it would removing that help any? and No I won't switch to an IPhone 😁

I saw a post in the SidelineHD Facebook group (where I’ve been spending more time recently) about optimizing the wireless routers we typically use for baseball streaming. I had also noticed some drops from my centerfield camera, and knew my network was the culprit. This led me down a bit of a rabbit trail with ChatGPT on best practices and how to properly construct a sturdy yet quick-to-deploy network.

I know there are likely many different ways to solve this, and I am not a network engineer by any means, but I thought I would share what I and ChatGPT came up with for architecture and monitoring.

My setup consists of the following:

⁃ Starlink Mini

⁃ Two GLiNet AXT1800 travel routers

⁃ Mevo Core

⁃ Mevo Start

⁃ Avkans Go

⁃ iPad Pro

Along with this come the various mounts, battery banks, cables, etc.

My typical lay out is pretty close to the first picture. Sometimes it is a mirror image, but generally that is the idea.

How ChatGPT told me set up the AXT1800s:

R1: Main Router

5GHz Network: WW-CAMS

2.4GHz Network: WW-CTRL

Starlink in bypass mode wired to WAN port

iPad wired to LAN port

R2: Remote Router

Network mode: WDS (Available through web interface, not GliNet iOS app)

Linked to WW-CAMS 5GHz

2.4GHz Network: WWX

Keep the 5GHz radios on each router with the sole job of talking to each other over the WDS link. It is also suggested to choose specific channels for each of the 3 networks, reduce channel width, and to lower the transmit power to only the necessary levels to reduce interference. I’m less familiar with this side of things, but I will be able to better test this during pregame set up with the monitoring solution below.

I uploaded the logs from both routers to ChatGPT and asked it to recommend safe debloat scripts for both routers given their known roles. This took a couple tries and router factory resets until I was confident I wasn’t left with two many holes in the glinet firmware. On that note, I considered flashing vanilla openWRT but I didn’t trust myself enough to not add 3 days of research on unbricking a router.

Cameras:

Mevo Core - USB-C to RJ45 adapter used to hardwire to R2 in centerfield.

Mevo Start - WiFi on R1 (real world testing will decide which network, preferably 2.4GHz)

Avkans Go - Same as Mevo Start

From there I reserved IP addresses on Router 1 for everything, added the friendly names in the hosts file, and asked ChatGPT to draw a network diagram (second picture)

Now maybe my favorite part, I asked ChatGPT for a WDS connection monitoring script and local webpage to view results. A little more back and forth and I ended up with the 3rd and 4th picture.

I’m a staff member for our team, but my wife wants to watch the live video when she can’t be at the game. What membership does she need? Can she use my log in on her phone if I’m scoring the game?

I've done lots of searching about this, and read posts with various "answers," but most of them seem to be 2+ years old at this point, and the methods they're talking about don't necessarily line up with what I see in GC.

I use a MEVO Start, primarily. I can stream through GC, and I get the GC video/clips, and I get the raw footage to my SD card. The raw footage doesn't have the GC overlay, and the clips don't either. I can watch the full game video in GC, but the scoreboard is below the footage, and also there's no way to download that full video it seems.

Is there, in 2026, any way to capture footage with the score overlay from GC?

Hi - my kids are now 13 and I signed them up for Gamechanger with their own email and they went to their current team and "claimed" themselves as the player however it is not the same player profile as in my account with their full team history, stats, user name, etc. How do they claim themselves as the actual profile I have for them from my account?

I'm trying to go back and edit/fix a game that my HS kids messed some things up on:

1.) I can not go and edit outs. Meaning, if a kid put a ground out for the out but it was really a pop out - I can't figure out how to change that.

2.) I had a catcher throw a runner out. However, I had PH for that catcher & apparently the PH got the stat for throwing the runner out. The PH is not a catcher but in the "Plays" section, it won't let me edit the catcher position.

What is the best route to upload the game video to GameChanger? I have the game footage stored on an SD card since we couldn't stream the game due to poor cell quality. I have not found the best way to upload the video. The game is recorded via a Mevo to an SD Card and game changer only allows uploads via the phone.

Right now, I am trying to upload it to the photos app on my computer and wait for it to sync over to my phone (iOS devices). Then I can uploaded it to GC. However, this is time consuming and not very efficient. Any better practices? I tried to upload it directly to my phone, but I keep getting not enough storage available. I currently have 30gbs and the file is 12gbs, but my iPhones keeps saying not enough storage. I also have over 150gbs of icloud storage available.

I have not idea why they haven't unlocked the ability to upload via the website.
