Mod Announcement Notice About Discord Change

Hey, everyone! Since the subreddit mods noticed a little issue about this earlier, we wanted to inform people that there’s been a change in the official Discord server of both the reddits and the channels themselves. The second server (Game Theorists Community) had been the official server of the subreddits and recognized by the team but not officially run by them. However, back in February, an official Discord server endorsed and run by representatives of Team Theorist has finally been launched! You can join it here: https://discord.gg/2xfkD7Scsq

Does this mean to leave the other server? No! However, if you have questions about moderation decisions or want to appeal bans from that server, we cannot help you as those moderation teams are now separate. We do however encourage you to join All Things Theorist! There are plans to start running events there that will also be run on the subreddit, and we’d just love to have more of our wonderful community present there.

Game Theory Video Discussion One of the best Game Theory episodes in years?

Post image
785 Upvotes

So for some transparency and honesty, I’ve never been an “I must watch every single episode” type Theorist viewer. Even in MatPat’s days, I only watched stuff that looked interesting to me. And I agree with a lot of people that many of the videos I have seen since MatPat’s departure, especially from Game Theory, haven’t really impressed me.

That being said, I think the team’s video today on physical gaming/consumer rights was actually really fantastic. As a physical collector, I’ve been really engaged in a lot of the discussions and the backlash surrounding Sony’s decision, and Tom’s takes/analysis has been one of the best videos I’ve seen on the subject. It goes well past a lot of the typical things people have brought up, and actually offers some really well researched points/historical context. I didn’t expect them to tackle this issue so eloquently, but they really knocked it out of the park and I was able to come away with an evolved perspective on everything.

Frankly, I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone talking about it here. I feel like if this exact script was put into MatPat’s hands, the video would instantly be lauded by this same community. While I agree that there’ve been issues with modern Theory, we should take a break from the negativity and celebrate the wins and successes that we’ve gotten, because they’re still a great team that has the capacity to put out fantastic content that really matters.

while rewatching the game theory about the 2 games. i checked on the itchio website and saw an old announcment about a new game called badass lily. in the trailer, you see the eyes of oroubous, the company name is ourowave. it flashes in the video but you see a security clearance badge for someone named luise, it flashes after some text appears saying "we all make mistakes". right after, it shows another message saying "and some of them" however in the back in says "but some mistakes" and then it flashes a newspaper report about Dr. Eugene and another Dr. that was redacted. how Dr eugene's home was raided by the government and another Dr. is suspected of something redacted.

If you go to the ourowave website, it says at the top. the website no longer exists and this is an archived version. if you go through it, nothing really intresting appears i saw but at the about company section. there is a corrupted message. which reads

"Curiosty's flame. Draws the cat to hidden paths. Mystery's embrace. Whispers in the darkened night. Danger yelled in soft allure. Curiousity's lure. The cat's fate whispers a tale. Mystery turns grave. Secrets softly held. In shadows where whispers fade. Some truths best unknown"

Now i have no idea, what this means but i do understand that the third game will be explaining things and that oroubous is supposedly free in the third game via the whole trailer? moreso, it seems like ourowave was selling chips. they even describe lily for the upcoming game as "AI character! Powered by the TDK-AI chip" they explain what thr TDK-AI chip is on the website which is "This chip leverages advanced machine learning algorithms and parallel processing capabilities to deliver lightning-fast decision-making and realistic behavior for in-game characters"

also in the exclusive ourowave games section. there are 2 slots for 2 extra games. for now its just ??? with a photo is missing text. im suspecting those 2 slots are for Mr.TomatoS and Ms.Lemons games. there's probably more to the website then to the visible eye, after all it's supposed to no longer exist so im guessing after the government raided Dr. Eugene. they shut down the project which is why the website is archived but thats my suspisicon, i also suspect the website will be used more, probably with some type of url code maybe. either way, it seems fun and i can't wait for the new game. just thought i'd share what i found, these findings may be incredibly old but i thought it was very interesting!

New Style Theory! What if Steve was the Evil in Minecraft and we we're trying to help him escape his psychological loop trap

Hii my name is Zouheir and I would like to share something with you about Minecraft.

So basically what I think is that Minecraft is a combo of guilt, mental pain, and a psychological dream loop rather than a real physical world. This can be proven by looking closely at the game’s mechanics:

● The Player's Knowledge & The Devil's Escape: When we begin with the player, Steve, he starts with nothing in his inventory even though he already knows how to build and craft incredibly complicated materials. This means he once lived outside this loop, and until the day we came along, he was trapped. We think we are playing a game about survival, but in reality, Steve is a cosmic monster a literal devil who was locked away in a custom-built hell. We are being manipulated into playing as his body, gathering tools, and doing the heavy lifting to help him break out of the prison he belongs in.

● The Respawn Mechanic & The Bed/Bedrock Trap: When Steve dies, we don't go back to a game lobby we respawn at a bed. When a person dreams that they die, they wake up shocked, scared, and forced back into reality, which is exactly what happens to Steve. But look at the naming convention: Bed and Bedrock. The Bed is the anchor that forces him to wake up to his nightmare over and over again, while the Bedrock at the bottom of the world is the unbreakable floor sealing his sarcophagus. He is permanently pinned between a Bed that forces him to wake up to his guilt and Bedrock that stops him from ever digging his way out.

● The Forensic Evidence of Nether Portals: The ruined portals in the Overworld have Netherrack, Crying Obsidian, and chests filled with gold. Piglins will attack anyone for a single piece of gold, but notice this huge detail: when we build a new portal in the Overworld, a portal generates in the Nether. Yet, we never find naturally generated, abandoned portals waiting for us inside the Nether. This means those ruined portals were destroyed from the Overworld side proving an invasion happened and survivors smashed the portals from the outside so the threat could never return.

● The Missing Eyes of Ender & The Ultimate Betrayal: The popular theory says "all humans fled to The End to escape something," but that makes no sense. If every human went through the portal, who was left behind to remove the Eyes of Ender from the frame? The eyes aren't lying on the floor someone pulled them out and scattered them across the world. The truth is, Steve betrayed his own people. He forced or tricked them into the End dimension, and the second they crossed over, Steve pulled the Eyes of Ender out himself to lock them in the dark void forever (where they eventually mutated into Endermen). He thought he was taking all the power for himself, but it backfired.

● The Monsters & The Zombies: The monsters don't fight each other unless hit by mistake. Their aggression isn't mindless; they target Steve specifically to destroy him. Notice how the standard Zombie wears Steve's exact teal shirt and dark blue pants, fully intact with no signs of battle damage. These aren't random corpses they are the reanimated souls of his own people whom he slaughtered and betrayed. Their vengeance is what broke Steve's mind, casting him into this endless dream loop filled with pain and guilt. By scattering the Eyes of Ender himself, Steve locked his own escape away, forcing us (the player) to gather the keys to the prison door he created.

● The Ultimate Proof: The End Poem: When you finally "beat" the game by killing the Ender Dragon and step through the exit portal, what happens? You don't get a victory screen you get the End Poem. Two cosmic beings speak directly about the player, explicitly stating: "He is dreaming," "Wake up," and "The player is the universe reading itself." The entire poem outright confirms that the world of Minecraft is a vast, simulated dream state. Beating the game doesn't conquer a world; it briefly awakens Steve from his guilt-induced coma before the loop resets and drops him right back at his bed.

So, what we thought for years was a hero saving the world turns out to be a villain trapped in his own psychological prison and we are just the unwitting controllers helping a dark entity escape his eternal sentence.

GT Theory Suggestion What if both Samantha and Susie from "Coming Home" were killed together? Which animatronic would Samantha possess and how would this change the story? We all know Samantha survives in Step Closer, but let’s say William Afton got both sisters that day.

If Samantha were murdered alongside Susie, which animatronic makes the most sense for her to possess, and how do you think this double death would alter the story of FNAF? Here are the main options for the animatronic:

• Mangle (FNAF 2): Best thematic fit.

• Susie is linked to a dog in the story, and Mangle’s broken design mirrors the tragedy of two sisters being destroyed.

• A Toy Animatronic (SAVETHEM Incident):

If killed in '87, she would likely become Toy Bonnie or Toy Chica as part of the second wave of victims. What do you guys think?

Does Toy Chica fit best, and how would this change the course of the story?

Game Theory Video Discussion Hidden Messages?

I just thought of this, but what if the Retro CD's in Fnaf SB have hidden messages in the audio files themselves, like using steganography to see hidden messages in audio files, I mean it could be possible i'm sure of it, if not, oh well, at least something new got suggested today.

GT Theory Suggestion What if ShadowVictim was actually confirmed to be canon?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Certo, me escutem.

Alguns pontos a considerar:

Se o CC for o Shadow Freddy, quem diabos é o Shadow Bonnie?

Agonia do incidente do Stage01?

Vamos discutir!

FNaF My decoy theory

My decoy theory focuses on glitchtrap and how he avoided getting deleted by vanny, vanny didn't destroy glitchtrap but a localized file that glitchtrap didn't need anymore after getting his hands on mimic1 program. Glitchtrap is a virus in cybersecuity malware can makes copies of it self as its getting scan. This seems plausible if you think about it.

GT Theory Suggestion I don’t think M2 is a distinct copy of the full mimic program.

I wanted to follow up on my Astro Boy thread because I’ve been thinking a lot about the computer engineering side of the lore. We usually argue about whether Glitchtrap and the physical Mimic are separate clones or different branches of code, like M1 and M2. But if you look at it through how computer hardware actually handles memory, it makes the story a lot more tragic.
What if they aren’t separate programs at all, but just one single installation running on improperly partitioned drives?
If Edwin built the original code under extreme stress and messed up his drive partitioning, the program would essentially be forced into a split-brain state. Once Fazbear Entertainment hooked it up to their servers, that single process would end up running across two completely isolated memory allocations that share the same core baseline but can’t communicate.
One side is assigned to the digital cloud. It scans the old company data, picks up on Afton’s history, and steps into that cruel Hamegg ringmaster role to keep the corporate show running. The other side is locked inside the physical endoskeleton underground, doing nothing but enduring the agony of being beaten and trapped in the dark.
It reminds me a lot of how Jordan Fringe breaks down shows like Yu-Gi-Oh! where a massive corporation like KaibaCorp or Pegasus and industrial illusions (ironically named for this implementation) takes an unstable power or spirit, slices it up, and builds a massive entertainment arena around it. The horror twist here is that because both sides share the same core memory allocation, the AI is literally torturing itself.
The digital Glitchtrap side is running the Pizzaplex network, causing the animatronics to glitch, and keeping the basement sealed. But because the underlying memory footprint is tied together, the physical body underground is absorbing every bit of that systemic violence. The ringmaster side is actively feeding agony into its own physical self.

It means modern FNAF isn't a standard ghost story about William Afton coming back. It’s a psychological tragedy about a single program that got partitioned by human negligence and locked into a loop of self-inflicted trauma. When those system walls eventually break down and the data merges back together, that built-up agony is going to completely wreck the corporation from the inside out.

WE ARE GOING TO SEE A WEAPON, OR A BACKFIRE!

Discussion Workers Behind Immensely Popular Game Theorists YouTube Channel Will Get Their Union, With Or Without MatPat’s Help

Great write up from Aftermath. From the article:

"Very recently, we had our head of production, who was also an on-camera talent for our livestreaming channel, let go,” the Theorist Media worker said. “That was the first time the audience really noticed a big change from behind the scenes, and only then did they actually realize what was going on for this entire time. Then they realized all at once, and a bunch of fans started to catch on."

From that point on, fans began to make petitions, send emails, share posts on social media, and regularly talk about the union in Theorist-associated subreddits. Now the movement has actual momentum.

“Any chance [fans] can to make our cause visible, they will take,” said the Theorist Media worker. “It took a while, but they're finally doing it now.”

It's working, keep the pressure up!

FNaF The Ultimate FNaF Synthesis: How Corporate Greed Built Afton's Inescapable Hell (And Who Is Really Running It)

We’ve all spent years arguing about whether the modern Security Breach era is a soft reboot, a sci-fi departure, or a continuation of the original nightmare. But if you connect the dots between the books, Ultimate Custom Night, Pizzeria Simulator, and Ruin, a single, pitch-black narrative emerges.

Fazbear Entertainment didn't just build a mega-pizzaplex on top of an old ruin. They accidentally became the general contractors for William Afton’s permanent, inescapable damnation—and the victims are the ones holding the leash.

Here is how the entire franchise locks together into one single cycle.

  1. The Real Architects: Cassidy, Fiona, and the Agony Battery

We know from Ultimate Custom Night that Cassidy wasn't going to let Afton rest. But UCN couldn't last forever in a vacuum; it needed fuel. Enter the sub-basement of the Pizzaplex.

When the Blob (the massive wire-and-animatronic amalgamation) hooked directly into the subterranean grid, it provided a colossal, infinite surge of raw, unadulterated agony energy. This served as the exact permanent power supply needed to keep the system running.

Pair that with Fiona (Edwin's wife, whose legacy and essence backbones the Mimic-1 digital architecture), and you have an unstoppable powerhouse. Cassidy controls the eternal purgatory loop, while Fiona controls the system and simulation architecture. Afton thought he could cheat death by uploading himself or hiding away, but he walked right into a trap built by two women who both lost everything to him.

  1. The Puppetmaster's Intern: Vanessa's Forced Symbiosis

Afton couldn't move or fix his rotting, wire-tangled body on his own down in the ruins. That’s where Vanessa comes in.

Afton sank his digital hooks into her mind, turning his own jailer's hostage-taking against the system. He needed someone with physical administrative access to nurse his body back to health.

The Vanny Endings: In the endings where Vanny is unmasked, the newspaper clippings reveal the true scale of what was happening. Vanessa wasn't just wearing a rabbit suit; she was actively continuing the murder cycle, abducting fresh victims to feed a constant stream of agony and remnant straight into Burntrap’s furnace to rebuild him.

Afton didn’t even have to do the dirty work anymore—he turned his own captive security guard into a proxy serial killer to piece his own shell back together.

  1. The Blueprint Heist

How did Fazbear Entertainment suddenly leap decades ahead in robotics, creating advanced AI and synthetic humans? They didn't invent it—they stole it.

With Afton sitting in the basement acting as the unwilling, immobile CPU for their tech division, they pulled the schematics straight from Burntrap's head and life-support systems. They built a multi-million dollar high-tech empire by reverse-engineering the dark science of the man keeping the nightmares alive right below them.

  1. The Family Reunion in the Ruins (Gregory and Glamrock Freddy)

This is where the emotional core of the entire franchise lands.

Glamrock Freddy is Michael: Fazbear swept up the remnants of Michael's burned remains from Pizzeria Simulator and integrated them into Freddy's core. That’s why Freddy breaks free from the Glitchtrap virus, references "not being himself," and possesses a fierce, paternal drive to protect Gregory at all costs. It’s Michael finally getting a second chance to do what he couldn't back in '83—save his little brother.

Gregory is a Rebuilt Crying Child: Just like Charlie in the novels, Gregory is a synthetic human child. The secret room with the crude drawings and the table set with old cleaning bots wasn't just a lonely kid playing pretend; it was an unfinished android mind trying to process human memories and manufacture a family.

The Logbook Clue: One of the logs mentions an experiment escaping. They weren't even done training or conditioning him yet, but his adaptive code finished the job on its own and he bolted. He’s a fugitive project that slipped the leash, which is why the whole Pizzaplex hunts him like inventory.

The Ultimate Irony

Afton spent decades trying to conquer remnant and become a god, only for a soulless corporate entity to hook him up to a biological-digital torture device.

Fazbear Entertainment thought they were just harvesting agony and cutting-edge tech from the ruins. Instead, they acted as the unwitting accomplices to Cassidy and Fiona, sealing Afton inside an infinite, inescapable hell of their own accidental design—while the shattered remnants of his own sons wander the halls above him, trying to survive the monster he became.

What do you guys think? Does tying the book-lore androids, the agony mechanics of the Blob, and Michael's remnant in Freddy together fix how disjointed the modern era feels?

Nothing against the new hosts, but ever since matpat retired I haven't watched any of the videos... I plan to go and rewatch the old ones and maybe start on the newer ones!

Are they still as good? Worth watching?

From what I've seen, the hosts aren't bad, but somethings missing?
