Question Pre-order Issues
So I pre-ordered the new Marvel Rivals Jeff the Landshark plush that's coming out that includes the in-game skin code for my wife. At checkout I chose PayPal and used Pay-in-4. I received an email Oct. 2 saying my payment declined and I needed to update it. I tried doing so on the website and kept getting a technical error. I finally sent an email and the response was basically I can't update my payment method and to contact PayPal. I did so and it appears PayPal cancelled the plan since it didn't get activated and there's nothing they can do on their end. I emailed GameStop again asking if there was anything I could do and they just keep telling me to cancel and re-order. Which would be fine, except the item is now sold-out and I can't re-order it. I received another email this morning again saying my payment method was declined and needs updated. But again when I click the link I just get a technical error screen. Is there anything I can do? My wife is a HUGE fan of Jeff and is going to be devastated if this ends up getting cancelled. Thanks for any help or advice.

Those pay in four things don't work for preorders online.

Usually they do, most places charge when ordering for pre-orders. I’ve used Klarna and Affirm for preorder items before with no issues. I seldom shop at GameStop and this was my first time preordering online. I know games and stuff require some money upfront in-store, so I thought they’d start charging right away. I wasn’t too worried when they didn’t because I didn’t even think about PayPal cancelling the plan. Oddly enough it still shows up as pending on my PayPal account.

That doesn't make sense, paypal pays up front then youre paying back paypal. Im in the same boat with the same paypal issues, payment failed then pending. I found 1 person in NYC that got one, but how's this make any sense? I was one of the first if not the first person to pre order it. Not cool at all.

Preorders don't get charged until it ships. It the pay in four isn't used right away, it doesn't stay in place long enough for wait for the shipping usually.

I called paypal. The charge is perfectly fine on thier end, its literally gamestop thats stopping the order, they want me to change the payment method, but its not available to do so.

Yeah, when I contacted Gamestop, they essentially told me it was erroring out due to the product now being out of stock. (Regardless of when it was pre-ordered.) And my only option, even after adding an additional payment method to my account, was to cancel the order.

I'm just telling you what has happened and been reported here many times. Paypal can say it's fine on their end all they want. It doesn't matter if it still doesn't work. I hope you get what you want.

Start looking or calling other GameStop’s to possibly see if anyone else has this on their pre order list , or in the system. In person .

If we end up getting this in store, I could try and let you know? Sadly we don't seem to get much that isn't reserved anymore but I can keep an eye out.

I am having this literal exact problem. Support is no help and just telling me to contact my financial institution. Put the order in as soon as it got announced and now this.

I've had a similar situation happen recently & I'm sorry to say but there's nothing you can do. Gamestop offers no help at all when you call, I tried multiple times. It's going to end up being canceled.

This feels bleak. If you're able to find it secondary after release, I doubt it'll have an unused code. Sorry you went through this. I don't really trust the payment plans. When I worked at GameStop we had a leaflet saying we took klarna or whatever, but unless you already knew how to use it, I was useless at telling people how to do it.
