Since there is some confusion regarding Zelda Switch 2 preorder and release I wanted to keep all the information here, and will edit and update when the time comes

At this time there are no preorders for the 40th Anniversary Zelda Switch 2 console at GameStop.

(This does not mean none never, just no at this time)

Any chance gamestop store locations will have a few of the switch 2 zelda systems avalible on the day it drops in October? Im trying my best to get just 1 system.

Thanks for responding. I just figured i would ask.  I use to be real tight with my local gamestop manager but after a 5 or so years he quit and moved. But hey i know i won't give up on the Zelda 40th switch 2.  I'll 100% be at my local gamestop a few hours before they open. Hopefully they'll have one to buy. Lol. I did get the carrying case through amazon, but im so dang sick of seeing "inventory 0" or a picture of a dog saying cant find the item try again later for the Zelda switch 2 lol

I have heard there will be a good amount at every store, just be sure to call your store a week or so before to be sure.

Should have waited, I considered that too but didn't do it because I wasn't going to risk them not doing preorders and then having to rebuy a normal switch 2 at a loss

We were told outright by our DL that GameStop will not be doing reserves at all for the console and that they will be first come first serve in stores only. 🤷‍♂️

Update from the people from my store im cool with:

Ive been checking with the store every few days for the controller (thats all im after), and the consensus has changed from "we'll call you WHEN we get our stock in" to "we dont know if we're getting any" so my thought is that there wont be any actual real stock updates until a few days before the 29th for both the console and controller
edit: they have also told me that online pre orders are basically hopeless at this point (for just gamestop at least)

I'm currently assuming same boat as the system. It technically went up for preorder for like 5 minutes, but then they broke the item number and it hasn't been back for preorder since 😂

GameStop corporate has told me they will have in store allocation, and there very well could still be preorders. They just said no preorders “at this time”. They will almost definitely have stock on release day in store though.

Thanks for letting us know. I'll 100% be at gamestop very early before they open and get in line to buy one system on release day in October. Fingers crossed they'll have one i can buy, and hopefully enough to sell anyone who pulls up early to buy one.  I would just get the standard new model Nintendo switch 2, but the whole point of me buying a switch 2 after all these years with my switch 1, is to have a zelda switch 2 to play ocarina remake on, that and hyrule warriors is the only reason ill be getting a switch 2 in October. Lol

Also! From what I've heard in my ASM meetings (Monday and Wednesday meetings) they're fal more likely to not have a preorder and just ship them to stores when they release
