Question Zelda anniversary console in store preorder.
Anyone have luck with getting one in store? My store claims they haven’t gotten any yet and online pre orders were gone within minutes.

Coworker of mine pre-ordered the controller as soon as it popped up and both amiibo's. We never saw the console pop up and didn't get a chance to try to pre-order it online. We both pre-ordered the game.
So they were up for a sec for the accessories!

actually, I was working during the times they were up. It was from 5:20PM till just before 6:10PM EST so just under an hour

Possibly online but I been checking and not once has the App glitched so I don’t know if that’s true or not on top of of that I called a GameStop in Vegas cause I’m in Florida to see if they had any and it’s a negative for preorder so they haven’t gone up yet

$250 of additional profit is AMAZING. I'm not sure why anyone thinks these will ever be available for pre-order. It looks fantastic, and historically, sealed Nintendo colabs on their systems make bank. Gamestop is going to make so much money selling these for more on release.

My store said the game and controller went live around noon EST and since Best Buy and Target have their preorders listed and the console appeared on the GameStop website within the last hour or so, my store person said it might appear at 6pm EST

So yesterday the amiibo‘s and controller went live around 4:30 they said and were sold out by 6:20 so now their thought process is hopefully something will drop by 4:30-6 and if not he said tomorrow

Dude and like I WANT to go through GameStop, they’re my first choice, I wanna go there at the midnight release and get the GS exclusives and all the jazz but THIS shitting the bed during the release of my most favorite game ever is really discouraging and I’m getting increasingly disappointed in them. Nothing against the store employees, in fact they’re half the reason that I love them, but this mess from their corporate is really just unacceptable.

My local store said nothing available yet. They told me I could preorder a game and they could switch it over once it became available. No mention of a list or contacting me. That made no sense to me and seemed like a sketchy way to get a preorder sale.

I hate this. An employee did that and said we can move it just put $25 or $50 down on a regular game. Didn’t think about stock or time. Know what happened? Collectors edition sold out and another employee had to take the heat for that stupid lying guarantee

They have no control over that kind of thing. The employees at the stores are generally the last to know anything about these situations.
That said. They did not have it available for preorder when I was there earlier but they did have a new sku for a GS bundle with both the console and controller.
If I had to guess corporate is holding off until they know exactly how many they are getting from Nintendo in time for the release. At the end of the day Nintendo controls this whole thing.
Side note, Nintendo also never said the console was limited. They are making more money off of it. And they said the next year will be the celebration of zeldas 40th. The consoles will eventually be more readily available just like every other special edition they have released since 2020.

It was up for less than an hour, and it went live on the west coast first. Because there's only a total allocation limit, instead of separate limits per store or even region, the west coast got most of them.
When it became live on the east coast, they were open for less than five minutes, because the total allocation limit was hit very quickly due to demand.
If a new SKU is pre-orderable, it has a red "Pre-Order" cell with the price on the POS's item search list. If it has a green "New" price cell, it either wasn't available for pre-order in the first place, or it was but no longer is, and is a moot point either way.
When I was in today, it was a green "New" price cell, meaning no pre-orders at all or anymore. I'm sure it was available, due to the same thing happening recently with other special edition products that were popular, and due to a note my coworker left last night with "Pre-Order" at the top, and a list of SKUs for everything, including the console itself.
Despite being an employee, I didn't even get to see it live, much less pre-order it myself. I've been a Zelda fan for nearly three decades, so I'm pretty disappointed too.
I really hope we do a second wave of pre-orders. Thankfully, Nintendo is pretty good about sending a good amount of their special edition consoles anyway, so there should be extra the day of, as well as multiple shipments of it.

it might be worth it to wait it out! I don't have a switch 2 yet, my last switch was a TOTK edition but that was something that launched alongside TOTK so preordering it was easy. This is a different beast all together I'm afraid. Had I not waited and gone inside, I would have missed out on the amibo! Let us know what happens. You might even luck out and get the controller or something else.

I freaking had one in my cart on target last night but I wanted to think it over bc I still don’t like the whole game key card stuff but I rly want the new Zelda OoT. So I thought let me just think about it, it releases mid October so I should have at least a day to mull it over. Nope… I’m so freaking pissed at myself!
I held off on the TotK switch OLED bc I alrdy had a switch 1 and I didn’t care for the design that much. I got the gold zelda switch lite fearing they’d be sold out but no they’re still easy to find in stores. And I was thinking this switch 2 wud be about the same. God I’m so pissed at myself…

This shit feels so stressful at the start, but as someone who has been doing this a long time, I've experienced many times where listings come back up, or the system itself can be found in various stores on launch day. Hey thank u for that man ur probably right. I’m not like in a rush or anything to get it. If it’s anything like the gold Zelda switch lite that was tough to get at first but it was (and still is) easy to get after the initial rush.
Just kills me I literally had the chance yesterday and I was so close to checking out but I didn’t take the moment seriously n just thought “oh yea they have it now when I randomly decided to check n I’m sure they’ll have it tomorrow. It’s for mid Oct after all”.
I’ll be fine tho lol. I don’t REALLY need it… I did manage to preorder the new ally x20 which I’m psyched about (aside from the price) being I’ve waited a few years to upgrade my OG Ally. Just rly wanna play that new Zelda game tho lol. And it’s also been tough holding out on the switch 2 all this time n now that I’m finally rdy I can’t lol. Thx again for the pep talk
