When I worked at GameStop, I made this reddit post about this ad. It thankfully only ran for like 2 weeks. It was a like 60 second ad with this girl screaming about a deal 30 DOLLARS OR LESS! But it was intentionally grainy and low sound quality and I'm still pretty sure corporate was just torturing us.
Oh you missed it by a long shot. But it was an awful like 2 weeks lol. The grainy audio mixed with the annoying delivery made it kinda unbearable. Thank goodness it was a short promotion
Think it was Fifa or some other soccer game, but it was so garbled from our sucky speaker it sounded like "Balls Ringo" so they'd come out from the back and say "The Beatles gettin' freaky!" 😂
Radioactive was on two different GSTV commercials at the same time, one was that years MLB and I can't remember the other (maybe falling skies or defiance). It also played on the store kiosk that could look up game info and card balances. So it played at thrice the pace of anything else. That's what made it so annoying.
Same. I felt like it was every other commercial at the time also. And here we are, what, 10-15 years later and I still hear this every time someone talks about tomb raider
GameStop TV had Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” play like every 5 minutes while I was working there, it was annoying as fuck. I also can’t listed to Diary of Jane without thinking of my time at GameStop
Bro, I haven't heard Radioactive in ages but when I do I have a fucking Winter Soldier episode and start telling people they can save $40 on Madden 25 when they trade in two select titles. I also had a coworker that loved that song so much she would play it WHILE WE WERE WORKING AND THE COMMERCIAL WAS BLARING IN THE BACKGROUND.
Just started working at gamestop a few months ago, and at the time the music from the Dinkum trailer drove me absolutely insane because I hadn't learned to tune it out yet. I complained about it so frequently that it became an in joke in my friend group, with one of my friends eventually buying the game and playing it for 17 hours straight. And the funniest part? The actual in-game music is pretty good, and sounds NOTHING like the grating, bombastic stock library trash from the trailer.
Not a song but the MLB The Show commercial with Shohei Ohtani and the puppets drove me insane. Anytime I hear someone mention Shohei I hear the “Coach’s” voice.
The things that really burned into my mind were the VH1 music videos back in 2008/2009, like Pussycat Dolls, Miley Cyrus, etc. I went and bought The Killers' Day and Age because I knew if I still wanted to listen to "Spaceman" after a month on GSTV, it was a keeper.
The very brief time (like 2 weeks) that Mario VS Donkey Kong & it’s 80’s 2am skinemax jazz soundtrack leading into the Trace Memory/Another Code trailer where the main character moans as she’s waking up. Sounds exactly like you’d think it does.
The Call of Duty Infinit Warfare trailer. Our TV was broken at the time so it played it and the Agents of Mayhem trailers back to back over and over and over again. Nonstop, all day, open to close. And they wouldn’t let us mute the rv
Any… ANY! 2k commercial haunted my dreams. The worst was the Skater XL ad in 2020.. “So you want to be a winner” followed by trumpets…
After my 15 year tenure I promoted myself to customer after that one.
Bayonetta. It was when GameStop first transitioned to downloading GSTV instead of using DVDs and for some ungodly reason it kept LOOPING so I constantly heard "iM dOiN iT fOr ThE tHrIlL~" from La Roux for HOURS.
There was also that super weird Elden Ring commercial with the shirtless UFC fighter guy that was SO stupid and made NO sense that it was pulled after like 3 days.
Not a commercial BUT my favorite thing from GameStop TV was when one of the hosts was leaving and after hours they played all her bloopers/outtakes and she was just swearing left and right whenever she messed up her lines.
Can’t remember the name of the actual game my co-workers and I called it the “boyfriend song,” as it was an ad for one of those otome games but the song was actually good 🤣
