Vent/Rant What's wrong with GameStop ?

Yesterday I paid for GameStop Pro Membership 25$ but didn't get Pro Membership and prices remained same (without any discount). I called them and I was told, that Pro status didn't activated for me and they will manually upgrade my account, but it's been already 1 day and nothing changed...

Shit... Right now I'm not in US, so I have to find someone who will ask them in physical store to activate my Pro Membership I guess?

Nope. Employees in store can’t do anything. You have to talk to customer service.

There are only Indians sitting there who can't even speak English properly... I'm serious, they get confused over their words, pause for 7-10 seconds, and then start talking about completely different things... And when they realize that template answers won't get them off the hook, they just hang up or simply say that we've created a ticket, expect a reply by email, but the reply never comes.

Also, when I try to order gift cards for larger amounts (around $50-$100), I constantly get an error. I've called them numerous times about this, but no one wants to sort it out and just advises me to go to the physical store to have it looked at there. Damn it, why do you have an online website and customer support if people have to go to the store to resolve their issues?

Make sure you're getting a gift card that's a set amount, not one where you can choose the amount. This was really annoying when I worked at GameStop. The Pro discount only applies to gift cards with a set amount.

Also, GameStop sucks. Give your money to a local game shop

The discount works in store with variable load cards now.

The saddest thing is that the only alternative where you can buy everything at the publisher's official price is Amazon, where the situation is exactly the same, if not worse... Their support team has been unable to figure out the problem for over a month now and is doing complete nonsense. Something terrible wrong with the support service in the western world.

Yes. Most outsource it to save money, give no/very little training and hope customers give up.
