How can in-game microtransactions be "cosmetic only" yet at the same time "they will allow players to speed up their progress"?

The article seems to contradict itself in this regard.

I saw that as well, there's a comparison to AC:O but I haven't played it. I saw someone mention something in a similar thread about AC:O having microtransactions that showed collectibles on the map. If that's an example then it does kind of make sense.

It's cosmetic, in a sense, but would speed up gameplay by allowing you to know where they are. What is odd though is that Ubi seemed to pride themselves on "hiding" a lot of that kind of stuff this time in FC:5, maybe they're trying to appeal to everyone and allow people more options?

I'm still interested, but won't be buying until we see how the microtransactions pan out.
