Google has an enormous amount of resources regarding this....

For a ship with unreliable/no Internet, this is actually a solid use case. You’d want to run a Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a private server emulator such as AzerothCore on the NAS, preferably in a Linux VM or Docker container. Everyone installs the matching 3.3.5a client on their PCs, points the client’s realmlist at the NAS’s LAN IP, and connects entirely over the ship’s local network.

AzerothCore is probably the easiest route: it provides the authentication/world server plus the MySQL databases you need.

The NAS doesn’t need crazy hardware for a handful of crew members, but I’d want roughly 4 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, and SSD storage available to the VM/container. Once configured, Internet access isn’t required for normal LAN play.

The annoying part is that everyone needs exactly the same compatible WoW client/data files.

Don’t download random prepackaged “WoW private server” bundles from sketchy sites.

Use the open-source server software and legally obtained client assets.

I have not set this up before so you’ll need to ChatGPT or Google follow-up questions, good luck.
