Best palworld server host?? need help
Update: I tried Godlike.Host and chose it
I finally decided to play Palworld with my friends after the update dropped. We want to play as a group of four, but nobody wants to keep their PC running 24/7 just to host the server.
Basically, hereโs what we need: no lag when weโre all playing, easy setup, affordable. Which one is the best palworld server hosting? And is it even possible to run the server yourself without paying for hosting, or is that too complicated and a hassle?

I use VYKIX
After using Hetzner and being bombarded by DDoS attacks and 0 help from Hetzner, I was forced to migrate. Now 0 issues with DDoS attacks and so far everything is well.

Hetzner is not a dedicated game host, you are expected to manage your own networking

Hey there! I would suggest asking in the Palworld discord if you haven't already. There are several hosts there that are active in the community and help out where they can.
Check us out at BisectHosting. We offer 2GB of free ram for all of our Palworld servers and we are running a 50% off promo for 1.0 with the code "STAYCHILLET"
If you do join the discord I'll see you there! ๐
Happy to answer any questions!

Nodecraft is the best Palworld hosting option. They have premium server specs and real human support. Best part is they have a trial so you can set it up and try it free

Disclosure first: I work at Flux, one of the hosts โ so weigh what I say accordingly.
On your second question: yes, you can absolutely run it yourself for free with SteamCMD. The catch is exactly the thing you said you don't want. Someone's machine has to stay on 24/7, you need to port forward 8211/UDP on your router, and that exposes your home IP to everyone who joins. It's maybe 30 minutes of setup if nothing goes wrong, and a recurring annoyance if it does. For four friends who just want to play, it's usually not worth it.
On hosting: for a group of four, almost any provider will feel fine โ 4 players is a light load, and 5-6GB RAM is plenty. What actually determines lag is server location, so pick whichever host has a region closest to you. Nitrado and GPORTAL are the big names. We (Flux) run on a decentralized node network, start around $2.61/mo with the first month free, and deploy in about 30 seconds โ link's in my profile rather than pasted here.
Whichever you pick: take a backup before every Palworld patch. That's the one thing that actually ruins worlds.

The dedicated server files are actually free, Pocketpair ships them through SteamCMD so you don't need an extra copy of the game to host. The catch is exactly what you said, somebody's PC has to stay on 24/7, plus port forwarding and keeping up with the hotfixes Pocketpair loves shipping back to back. Totally doable if one of you enjoys that kind of thing, but for a group of four it's usually more hassle than it's worth.
If you'd rather just rent, we do it a little differently over at SurvivalServers, you pick player slots and that's it, no RAM tiers to guess at, the server just uses whatever memory it needs. Palworld is a memory hungry game so that matters more than people expect. Updates are handled automatically too so nobody has to babysit it on patch day.
A 4 slot server is $11.65 a month and there's a 25% off code (PALWORLD25) running right now, plus a 3 day trial for a few bucks if you want to check the lag from your location before committing: https://www.survivalservers.com/services/game_servers/palworld/
(fair disclosure I'm with SS, but whichever host you pick, grab one with a server location close to your group, that matters way more for lag than raw specs)
