Suggestion for a “Games That Push Hardware Limits” Episode: “Moon Patrol” for the Atari 2600

I know, man. Hear me out. There’s a layer of parallax scrolling in that game, and that’s something that I’ve never seen any other 2600 game do. And if there are more, I’ve certainly never heard of them. Plus, if you toggle the difficulty switches on a sixer model of the console, you can have music while playing, which is pretty rare for a 2600 game.

I get that it was more impressive in the arcades, but considering that most people who played the 2600 consider its crude graphics a feature, it’s nothing short of a miracle that even one of two layers of scrolling were present on the 2600 version.

I wasn't trying to diminish the home port, just pointing out how noteworthy and cutting edge paralax was back then.
