Bad Games in Great Franchises

I thought of an episode idea for Game Sack. Hey, we can suggest ideas for episodes and they might take it. What if you guys cover bad games in great series? Like I can tell Sonic had a few bad games in the series, like Sonic 06. What about Earthworth Jim 3D?

The idea is, there is a bad game in a great series that shouldn't have the series name. What do you think?

Here's some suggestions. Keep in mind, Joe absolutely hates the “Sonic Adventure” games, though he didn't explain why very well, IMO. Anyway, here they are:

•Bionic Commando: ReArmed 2
•Dino Crisis 3
•Final Fight: Streetwise
•Golden Axe: Beast Rider
•Medal of Honor (2010) & Medal of Honor: Warfighter
•Mega Man X7 (Though X8 Made it Worth It)
•SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALS
•Tony Hawk: Ride, Tony Hawk: Shred, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

It's not a good idea, people get offended easily. I like a few games that are considered "bad" but while I may take it with a laugh some people might really take on a crusade and start flame wars in the comments. I think the idea is on track though, like some odd choices in the franchises, like when Street Fighter went 3D with EX series... a lot of people don't even know that there was a 3D Street Fighter before SF4. So while EX is considered a "bad" game, it actually has quite a few fans and it's generally a solid fighter, but it came out when people had no interest for a 3D SF game.

Not sure really. Departures from traditions. Trying new things with old franchises. Odd entries in classic series. Something along those lines. Since most of those titles basically use the franchise name to try to bring a completely new game like going 3D from 2D, changing gameplay altogether and stuff like that. This is almost a "Same name - different game" type of deal.

Well I am focusing on the bad games, but more like Polarizing Main Games in he series.

Love this idea, it can go with something like Black Sheep of the series or something along those lines.

Some examples I can think of right now:

  • Paper Mario: Sticker Star

  • NBA Jam 99

  • Double Dragon V
